Irondeath I think you're wrong as the CSM aren't within 5cm of each other.

To obey the rules you have to have something like:

CSM - 5cm - CSM - 15cm - Bloodthirster

Yep.  This would be legal:

CSM -5cm- CSM -15cm- BT -15cm- CSM -5cm- CSM

The non-WEs are all 5cm from another unit in the formation and the DC3 WE is within 15cm of at least one other unit in the formation.

Ah, thats interesting, I thought coherency was both ways? Hence scouts 20cm apart but rhinos within 5cm of at least one scout?

Anyway, its means ginger the winged dp and bloodthirster long ranged attack could work!

Ok just got back from another battle, this time vs Orks with Alansa. will write it up tomorrow (if Alansa can provide his list). We had a brief discussion after the game and agreed that the strategy I seem to be adopting is to occupy the centre of the table (wiping out what I can in getting there) and weathering the subsequent retaliation. In this game, I produced yet another slight variation on a theme using 11x Lesser Daemons, 1x Greater Daemon and three Daemon Princes (one flying) in a 7x formation army. Alansa helped check over the list, and then modified his list accordingly (changing all his Super-zzaps to super-guns). It was a lengthy and bloody battle which went into the fourth turn - but you will have to wait for the result.

Nope, to any other unit.  You could have a cluster of Rhinos 5cm from each other so they are in coherency and then have the scouts all scattered out.  In fact, you could end up with holes in the formation's ZoC if you really maxed it out.

Rhino -5cm- Rhino -20cm- Scout -20cm- Scout

That would be legal because each of the Rhinos is 5cm from another unit in the formation (each other) and the scouts are each within 20cm of another unit.  However, between the Rhino and the first Scout there is a 5cm gap in ZoC (20cm distance -5cm Rhino ZoC -10cm Scout Zoc = 5cm gap)
