This change seemed inevitable as a list of Lost & Damned must multiply the stigmatus to acquire daemon machines or traitors support. The opportunity to take one of each for each stigmatus provides a little more flexibility when the constitution of the list army.
During playtesting we found that allowing 2 support slots per coven led to armies composed of 1/3 cultists and 2/3 support troops. LatD is supposed to be a horde army of massed infantry, with that much support it is basically a armoured-focus thing.
Picking a Coven with no upgrades easily leads to supprt costing 3 to 4x as much as the cultists, and this isn?t how the army is supposed to look.
I think there is room for more wargear-oriented Cultist armies in a Daemon Forgeworld list, but not in the basic LatD.

This opportunity to reinforce this formations was necessary because being too weak and too easiest to break with BM.
While reinforcing the concerns I raised above, I can see where you are coming from. My khornate Daemon Engines are commonly broken as well, but at least they are "Fearless" and well-armoured, and opponents keep worrying they might rally and come back with a vengeance!
