I have a couple of questions regarding purchasing Daemon Engines as Formation Upgrades rather than as Support Formations, as all of the Daemon Engines are available to be purchased in this manner, except Brass Scorpions.
Is this intentional?
Is the fear that someone would be buying Brass Scorpions as upgrades for multiple units and flood the battlefield with them?
I realize that the Scorpions are powerful, but as they would most likely cost 150 points each I don't think that allowing their purchase in this manner would be too OTT.

The main reason I ask is that I have 3 models, and currently have to purchase them in lots of 2 with no way to include the 3rd Scorpion and would really like to use all of them in games.

Yes Brass Scorpions are war engines and as such only available as a formation of their own. Originally i would have prefered if each faction could field a war engine formation but i only wanted to include official units not made up ones.
You will note that those are the Apocalypse 2DC ones (made from two cobbled together Defilers) not the 3DC Greater Brass Scorpions forgeworld made.
Imho this emphasizes the raiding force nature of this list. No bigger WE (apart from Titans) than 2DC.

Thanks for all the work that's gone into this list! I will be using it for my next army.

I have a few questions about the v3.3 list:

Daemon Engines (upgrade): Each of these upgrade options now states "only for formations containing X," in place of the v3.22 list that has "only if unit X is present in the army." This now restricts the upgrade to Renegade Warbands with the Cult Marines upgrade, Cult Marines formations, and Daemon Engines formations of the same type.

--> Should this upgrade still be listed for the Terminator Retinue, Defiler Assault Force and Armoured Company? None of these appears to have any way of adding the necessary cult troops or other Daemon engines to qualify. I like the idea of mixing Daemon engines into an Armoured Company, but it's currently not possible.

Obliterators and Maulers (unit stats): Stat lines appear to mix up their weapons, both listed as "Body Weapons." Maulers are listed with three shots in Base Contact; Obliterators have no shooting attacks and an Assault Weapon (MW, EA +1) with a 45cm range. What should the correct profiles be?

Chaos Vindicator: This has the Walker note - should this be removed?

Ooops. Maulers are the CC type, Obliterators are the shooting type.
Walker on the Chaos Vindicator is correct.
I will look at the other issues.

Mate, whee are you at with development on this one? What sort of number of Playtest games do you need to get things rolling along? I am keen to play the list and have been collecting a force for a while now and have it ready to go.

Well. to be honest: Epic is almost dead in my area. People (incliduing me) are moving to historical systems and so my interest in Epic is waning. It would be the best if i would step down from AC position and hand it over to someone more capable.

it is a sad day.......... Black Legion is stepping down... but some historicals are fun.. EA has never had a big followign in houston texas save for two or three random guys i ran into two years ago. along with my buddy Jimbo, and two i converted to play with my largish collection of different armies. i now will be getting a sizable chaos army but need daemon engines. anybody have any to spare?

Steve, not sure if this was the appropriate spot or if I should have done it in the new list sticky thread so nuke/move/ignore as you feel appropriate.

Uvenlord mentioned to me in passing today that Mordoten has a chaos army and experience with them. Considering he's on the hunt for a list to manage and Red Corsairs doesn't have anyone to push it forward and I'd hate to see it languish it might be worth seeing if there's a good match there. Not sure if this is even something he's interested in and admittedly unsolicited so do with it as you see fit. Just seems like an opportunity

If he wants to do it then that would be great, IMO the list is pretty close with only a few possible issues but has stalled a bit with an absent/non-playing AC

Not very interestedin this list but like in high school when there was a fat chick around sometimes you had to take one for the team... Exactly how much work does it require? Is there any battlereports done on it's way to approved status?

Is there anyone actually interested in this list?

Batreps - a cursory search came up blank but I'm sure their have been some, certainly quite a few active players have RC armies.

For me the list just really needs tidying and stressing
Tidying - flyers to match BL
- does it need all the options
- daemon summoning, follow BL or not?
Stressing - fearless Thawks
- thawk loads - berzerkers etc
- inspring warhounds
With an active and sensible champion I think it would get input and traction pretty quickly
