I'm trying for a more infantry World Eater list though as opposed to a heavy on the Daemon Engines list - but that's no surprise.

Ours is infantry based as you have to take Berserkers to get what you want.

Also V0.9 will have the Lord of Battles in under the Titan areas which will be renamed 'Khorne War Engines'. Greater Brass Scorpions (DC3) will go in there too. This is all from the feedback on these lists and the discussions Morgan, Drew and I have had.

Each to their own, but fluff is fluff regardless of what an opinion is on current ethos. We are keeping them as we want to use the models that we (and alot of other people) have

I would rather a swath be cut through the demon engines than lose the juggers. They constantly crop up in 40k. Indeed i would prefer to see the bikes go to support and the juggers take their place as core.

Don't worry TRC, in this specific list they will stay as a formation. At present we do have them as support as the unit would be quite rare as the unit would have had to earn enough favour from Khorne for the entire retinue to have a steed each. This is 'old skool' and the way I personally like it. Although unlikley, it was possible as detailed in Slaves to Darkness.

The bikes would be a much more common sight, and that is why we have kept them as a core formation.

Like anything however, your feedback is really appreciated as it gets us thinking and helps us to develop this list.

They constantly crop up in 40k

That's quite interesting. Do they run around in squads though? I was lead to believe they were largely just gifts of khorne to champions. I assumed that even in 40K champions don't run around as squads or larger.

Would they be better served as a character upgrade?

Not for this list.

I think this discussion would be better in the Project Juggernaught thread and not this list.

Gifts of Khorne could be repeated and extra steeds were awarded to followers in the Warband. They were not just for the one character.

I hope that clears this one up for this list anyway.

OK

The third Battle report for this list is up. This was a hard fought game and one that the World Eaters actually won, but not really. It is all in the battle report:

World Eaters V0.8 vs Eldar

It really brings home the small activations on such a specialised force and the need to make sure there are few to no tactical errors. Every unit is an assett and needs to be used correctlty - still something I am getting used to but practice makes perfect!  This is all offset by the Fearless rule in that these guys just do not go away

For posterity's sake, I am listing the games played and tested within our group relating to the World Eaters:

Lord Inquisitor v0.3 - 1 Game
- vs Imperial Guard - as a player

Dobbsy List 1.01 & 1.1 - 3 Games
- vs Test Squats list - as a player
- vs Marines - as a player
- vs Marines - as a player

World Eaters v0.8 (Morgan and Frogbear) - 3 Games
- vs Marines - as an opponent
- vs Tau - as a player
- vs Eldar - as a player

I have another game with v0.8 on Thursday (either as the player or opponent?) so I am not sure what force as yet.

I am really happy so far in how this list is playing.

We have a few proposed changes for v0.9 as follows:
- Plasma Pistols do not recieve the +1 to sustain actions
- World Eater Terminators FF to increase to 4+
- World Eater Land Raider CC to increase to 5+
- World Eater Predator CC to increase to 5+
- World Eater Rhino CC to increase to 6+
- Khorne Titan Formations to be renamed War Engines of Khorne
- Lord of Battles to be moved to War Engines of Khorne section
- DC3 Greater Scorpion to be added to War Engines of Khorne section
- Angron (INF unit) character to be added to the list for playtesting

So it's all happening at the moment so stay tuned   :agree:

I would just drop the Plasma pistols shooting attack. They are pistols, they should only be Small Arms. And if a Berzerker formation is within 15cm of the enemy they want to assault anyway than to stay and shoot.

That is one option.

The fact that we have them with a 15cm shot in these playtests is opening up a few options that we are finding that they may need especially against skimmers. There have been quite a few assaults where assaulting skimmers is just useless with the 5+ or 6+ firefight.

It is quite feasible that these guys would shoot down skimmers that are overhead, and the stand and shoot in anger at least places a blast marker and means the enemy is not hitting back with MW attacks (as an example). It allows the strategy back into the force (to a small extent), rather than the mad charge. If you cannot reach these snipers up above, and you have a weapon, you would shoot them.

Now I know there are bolters with larger range that are FF only, however we are really trying to test all options. As you can see, I have tested the berserkers without the extra weapons. Our most recent games we have enjoyed more with our list that includes them as it is more strategic. We just need to find out whether we can incorporate them in, so the 'no +1 on sustain' is our next step towards this.

How have you found these guys in the past BL? Does any of the above ring true to your findings?

So Blish is taking his Orcs against the World Eaters as detailed in the pic below:



The World Eater changes for tonight's game:

- Plasma Pistols are being removed
- World Eater Terminators FF to increase to 4+
- World Eater Land Raider CC to increase to 5+
- World Eater Predator CC to increase to 5+
- World Eater Rhino CC to increase to 6+
- Khorne Titan Formations to be renamed War Engines of Khorne
