The +1 for Initiative for not having hated units. Does this mean that enemy units also count? It's not specified either way so I read that it does.

Enemy units don't count

Aye, I'd expect to see Raptors downgraded slightly after the new codex comes out (A FF change at the least).

I wouldn't.

There isn't any need for the Epic list to be updated to keep pace with the 40K list

I disagree.

The only advantage of having a living rulebook is that it can be updated.

Not doing that is just accepting the worst of both worlds, and is the path of least resistance* to boot.

* A very bad thing.

You don't need to tweak this stuff, just next time Raptors are used in a list use different stats. Different time frame/campaign different Raptors say.

Unless that tweak is to lose the 0-x rating in which case its a great thing :)

Then there should read friendly. Eg.

"Friendly" units that are "hated"... that doesn't really make sense.  *laugh*

Perhaps "allied" or "from the same army" or something, but I really don't think "friendly" works thematically.

And what does it hurt if enemy hated units *are* included?  Just means they're really irritating... hence, hated!  *laugh*

The restriction is there because we changed the Raptors to match the 40K codex which made them too darned powerful and consequently we needed to limit their number in an army

Another example of why we shouldn't let the 40K codex inform the Epic army lists.

Just wanted to quickly add my support for earlier suggestions of replacing (base) with (base contact), removing Macro Weapon as a special ability of any weapon which also has Titan Killer, replacing Chaos Rhino's Storm Bolter with Combi Bolter and having weapon and unit special abilities in alphabetical order.

Would also mention replacing Artifact with Artefact, renaming the Chaos Space Marine unit Chaos Space Marines, specifying what the Slow and Steady rule actually does (until it gets added to the universal rules section of the rulebook, it always needs describing as a unit-specific rule) and separating out universal special rules from unit-specific special rules.

The last item only really relates to the Titans. I realise the format has been carried across from the Armageddon rulebook, but I'm not keen on it there either. Specifically, it's where they put the sentence about terrain up to the Titan's knees in between the Walker ability and Reinforced Armour. I know it is sort of related to the Walker rule (and would probably be sorted by putting the universal rules in alphabetical order), but I've always felt that universal rules should come first, followed by longer descriptions of other rules. Making this assumption in the past, I've sometimes missed certain universal rules. I realise it's up to the player to read everything, but I thought it might help.

Note that Raptors are being downgraded in the new Chaos Codex, and will no longer be 0-1 in 40k.

So yes, we should follow 40k, and yes, downgrade them a little, and lift the restriction.

Anything else is just bad list design (Leaving them as an overpowered choice that might as well be a '1' rather than 0-1).

Does this affect WEs and titans then in particular?

Yes. Don't get too  close to it unless you want to suffer the same fate as it.

I see what you mean. I need to check my notes as this came up before and I thought that Neal sent me some changes but they didn't make it into the current version
