Tzeentchiness - Obviously, there are conflicting opinions on how exotic the list feels.  To me, that is a good sign that we're starting to reach a middle ground.

Beastmen - What is the reason behind the desire for Beastmen specifically?  How would they fit the Thousand Sons "feel" of the list?

Edit:  I'm also thinking about cutting the whole "strategy roll can give or take from the daemon pool" rule.  Personally, I never remember to do that with any of the chaos lists.

Then how about:

Upgrade: Replace 2 (or 4) Thousand Sons Rubric Marine units with one (or two) Thousand Sons Chosen unit each. Cost free

Thousand Sons 4.0 posted to the wiki.

The layout is definitely not polished and the flavor text for the new units definitely isn't going to win any prizes, but it's function.

You forgot "Rubric" in the "Thousand Sons Rubric Marines" datasheet.

"Sorcerer Adepts" datasheet says "Thousand Sons Marines"

In the Deceiver's Notes it says "Heavy flamer grants Firefight attack the Ignore Cover ability". Shoudln't it be "Heavy flamer grants the Ignore Cover ability to the Firefight attack"?

Hmm... a couple of things.

You interchange Ahriman's Chosen and Chosen of Ahriman in the army list.

I think your Rhinos are a little slow (15cm!). Why no Warp Flame? It's a minor tweak that wouldn't warrant any real cost increase.

Sorcerer Adepts use the Thousand Suns Marines header for their statbox.

You did away with Fearless on the Land Raiders? Yay!

I think the Horrors need a little something. They just seem a little iffy for the cost. From a purely fluff perspective, I'd suggest something like "If a Horrors unit is killed, add 10pts to your Daemon Pool". This represents the Pink/Blue split, without it being cumbersome or overpowered on the table. But that's probably more rules than you're willing to add.

Either this, or a cut/paste of the BLs Forlorn Hope. When I have only a few expensive, lumbering formations I find Im getting outmaneuvered and crossfired far too often.

Is this not offset by the RA save and the Fearless?

They need some weaknesses   :)

Next radical change for consideration...

Remove all the titans.

Upgrade the Warp Palace to a titan equivalent and install another floating castle unit between them, a "Greater Spire" or something.  

That would get further from the "marines + titans" version of chaos and reinforce the tower background specific to the Thousand Sons.  In general terms...

The Warp Palace would boost to ~DC6, putting it in the same price range as a Reaver titan - more firepower but more fragile - 600-650 points.

The Greater Spire (or whatever) would be ~DC3, somewhere around 1-3 per formation, firepower equal to the Silver Tower, plus another heavy weapon to put them in the range of SHTs - again, more firepower but more fragile - 175-250 points each.

Since the Suns of Damnation have been tested somewhat, I would include them in the Appendix models for fun and possibly even add another scenario to include them.

Hello, LoW.

I agree this is a substantial weakness.  I am hopeful the new list will help that considerably.  Either you'll have more slow, lumbering formations so you have a better ability to maintain a cohesive line that defends better against such things, or you'll have more fast formation options.  Or a bit of both.

That gain would be offset by the post-broken usefulness of large, Fearless formations.

Hopefully, both will make the list more fun to play with and against.

Would such a unit belong in "Support Craft" always-popped-up-for-LOS class of units?

Cuz, it sounds cool regardless!  *laugh*

Uhm...so i'm forced to use my converted Tzeentch Warlord Titan as a count as unit and not as wysiwyg anymore expept i play the Suns of Damnation army list?

Just downloaded the V4.0

Here are some quick things (I will get some more more time on the weekend)

Observations
- Upgrades Allowed for Thousand Sons - Just place 'ALL' as there are none that are missing from what I can see (keeps it simple)
- 1+ for the Retinue - interesting. I will consider such a thing for the WoE list
- Daemon Pool in the Core - *meh* - I think this is confusing for new players

Suggestions for Change
- I still think the Rubric Terminators are on the cheap side. SR5 and 1+ Init for Fearless Teleporters. Do you think they are less effective than Hena's Death Guard Termies? (I am looking at a change for the WoE Termies so please do not compare to them). At 350 points for 4 with a FF MW - it is kind of a no-brainer. Just my opinion based on balancing Chaos Terminators over the past year.


Not in the list

The whole Titan Silver Tower idea is quite interesting. I am definately keeping an eye on this one.  :agree:

Out of any of the Chaos Lists, Tzeentch would be the one Cult that I would think would keep such a rule. The fickle ways of fate are known to no-one other than Tzeentch, and even then, one has to wonder...

The more I think about this, the more I like it. The only concern would be this flying DC6 monster that cannot be effected by CC attacks. The Fragility of such a Titan (and it's move) would be a factor I would think. Do you have any models in mind for such an addition?
