Not wanting to start a flame war,

I hate no tone in these things. Let me state this right now, it is not my intention to berate or argue anything beyond the consensus or the AC in these discussions. This will not turn into a Tau discussion via my actions. Just so we are all clear on that one. If that means I supply one of these    or or any of these  :;):   :agree:   :handshake:  in my posts, then so be it

Just got to work.....   :;):

Steve: Is that the final decision on the Banelord then? It is not clear.

I am just trying to understand the reason for this thread if the alternates are not be considerred. What exactly are you looking for? I would think that any change to the Banelord will no longer make it a Banlord.

Are you open to a change?    :peace:

With nealhunt and the majority on this one... the other gods are dealt with in the fluff text, no need to balance a generic Chaos Warlord or god-specific variants.

The Banelord does well as a Blitzguard and artillery support, but it is hardly a no-brainer, checking tourney army lists shows that clearly, and it´s not just about the Ferals... a Banelord is a choice and a statement, and should your IG opponent have the inevitable Vultures/Death Strikes combo, it is a heap of scrap metal...

This thread was just to gauge if their were any balance problems with the stats of the Banelord.

At this stage of development I'm not willing to embark on producing/testing/balancing 3 new titans. The NetEA is basically waiting on Chaos so the focus is to examine the initial change proposals reject/amend/accept them, add anything else that was omitted - perhaps Prtedator weaponry, and conduct final tests before delivering a finished pair of lists to the NetERC by the end of January.

If you want to create a different Banelord for the World Eaters then that is fine just tag it as being from a different traitor titan legion.

Then there are no balance issues at 800 points that I can see. I have used it in a few games (both reported and not) with no issues.

My thoughts exactly. FLuff text represents other titans and (cross referencing my post in the Defilers discussion) taking a *Insert Faction Relevant Name here*Lord is an interesting way for chaos to access an interesting Blitz Guard formation :-)

From weapons configuration and name the BL Banelord is a Khorne Banelord. That we as a community did go the GW way and retconned its fluff to be a generic Chaos Warlord Titan and/or that each Chaos Faction has a Titan with a different name but the same weapons configuration is a rather cheap way.

As for balance issues the Banelord is just fine.

As for fluff issues the Banelord is a sore wound in the Black Legion army list.

I think more of the Traitor Titans would be more drawn to Khrone than any of the other powers anyway (or at least the original idea of Khrone, maybe not the current fluff incarnation), hence the Banelord would probably be more common than a Nurgle etc equivalent.

I'm in the "stay as is" camp. Abstraction is fine, well for me at least.

Just for note: In current GW fluff the Banelord is still a Khorne-only Titan. See it's Apocalypse datasheet: http://www.games-workshop.com/MEDIA_C....rne.pdf

I'd definitely be in favour of changing the name to something like "Corrupted Warlord", with the fluff text updated to reference how it can represent each of the marked types.

No opinion on the stats.
