So here's the problem, you are a budding cultist on a forgeworld or other such place where once you rise up to proclaim the glory of the god of your choice you know that you are going to be stomped on by a load of titans.

With the above in mind I would like to know what people would choose for a LatD army if they knew they were going to face an AMTL force.

Do you go heavy on WE or try and hoard the board with so many figures and activations that they just can't handle you?

Thoughts......

Well, I don't think LatD *can* get "so many... activations" to swamp a board, but they can get big formations.

I'd almost forego war engines at all, just lots and lots of infantry and armoured vehicles... probably lots of Traitor Russ formations backed up by big Cultist/Mutant Covens... with maxed Big Mutants to suck up hits with their 3+ armour.

Go Nurgle for daemons with great saves, or Tzeentch for daemons with great fire fight... strip shields with Russ and then assault!

And don't forget Plague Zombies to harrass enemy support formations.

That was the sort of thing that I was thinking that I might need to use. Its a pity that I will be playing with 6 Cultist Formations (one with fire support & hydra), Lord of Battles, 2x Subjugators (paired together), Daemon Assault Engines, Hellfire Cannons, Doomwings & some Rough Riders. However I want to test this to death before adding in Big Mutants, which I am a bit of a fan of.

Zombies.

Possibly go all-Infantry and try to swarm the enemy, Khorne is always an option and Bloodthirsters are quite capable of harming any (non-Eldar) Titan.

A formation with a winged Daemon Prince and a Bloodthirster should stand a decent chance of felling even a Warlord. Unfortunately, with you expecting AMTL your opponent will probably expect LatD, and equip his Titans with CC weapons, shifting the balance back in his favour.

The other option is the Traitor Guard theme, as many Leman Russ squadrons, Hellfire Cannon and Basilisks as you can field, with the Coven you need to field them being relegated to bare-bones status and stumbling blocks.

Anyway, I think that AMTL is quite easily exploited when you know what army you will be facing.

Appeal to your opponents decency and sense of fair play if you want to stand a chance...  :;):

Having Khorne and Slaanesh factions in the same army is really going to hurt you, especially if the enemy "clumps" his formations... you'll be activating on 3+ and 4+ a lot of the game if you have to get near them... and with assault Titans, you're going to have to.

I normally give them a flank each to work with and work around it that way. I will, of course, be spreading out the objectives that I place.

Don't forget that sometimes the best tactic in dealing with a Warlord is to ignore it and concentrate on breaking other formations.

True, but I must have been playing Orks for too long as I just look at them and say "The bigger they are, the harder they fall".

However, my list above is not really designed to take on a warlord.

Will have to wait a little bit longer to try this out as we played LatD vs Guard instead today. Different list with Big Mutants and a Daemons Prince in it, but main down side for me was Lord of Battle failing to activate on a 2+ the begining of turn 2, even with the SC re-roll, thus not being able to engage an intermingled Warhound, Deathstrikes & Manticores.

However, Shadow Emporer got his first win against me and is almost ready to unleash titans. I might have to revert back to my guard next.

Was actually talking about using a camera for our next game so that we could give a report.

Interesting idea Rug, but as a Prince replaces a Demagogue, I would need to go with at least a Chaos Altar before adding on the cost of the Greater Daemon and then beefing up the formation.

I did try big mutants and a Prince in my game against the Guard. They lead one engagement wiped out the enemy, but failed too many 3+ saves and broke for the rest of the game... So not very conclusive.

So I got a game in against AMTL (TRC - Legio Victorum) last saturday vs Emperor's Shadow.

Sorry no pictures and no proper report, but here is the information that I can remember from the battle.

AMTL
Warlord (MRL, Plasma Destructor, 2x Gattling Blaster) - Legate & Multi Lasers
Reaver (MRL & 2x Turbolaser Destructors)
Pair of Warhounds (3x Mega Bolters & Inferno Gun)
Ordinatus
Skitarii + Chimera
Skitarii
Sentinals

LatD
Same as previously mentioned
6x Covens (One with Fire Support x4, & Hydra)
Doomwings
Lord of Battles
Daemon Asssault Engines
Hellfire Cannons
Subjugators x2 (BTS)
Rough Riders

Set up - long edge to long edge
AMTL objectives placed on one side of the table, LatD on the other right next to the centre line.

More to come later

Warlord, Reaver & Warhounds were set up to take the forward two objectives in my half, whilst I garrisoned two covens & hid the Lord of Battle, Daemon Assault Engines & a third coven behind a hill.

A formation of Skitarii hid in ruins in front of the AMTL blitz, whilst I garrisoned a coven in ruinins infront of my blitz with a second near them on the right sideof the table. Also in this area were my subjugators & rough riders.

The ordinatus had a good view of the centre of the table with the sentinals garrisoned in front of them.

My centre consisted of the final coven and cannons hidding in a forest.

More to come (much later, as wife needs to use the computer).
