I don't think this change should be a problem; the results are statistically similar and the "2x" would really show why their firefight value is so high.  I tend to use Big Mutants as shields and heavy assault troops, not for their shooting, so, to keep weapons stats/names the same cross-list, I think this change is fine.

Seriously, the reason why the Altar is fairly priced is, again, its inclusion in a large coven of low-grade infantry. An IG SHT is 200Pts singly and 167.67 in the company, but there you have a formation that can be given orders to meaningfully employ its weaponry. The Altar is dragged along with the coven, and is fixed in its support role.

To effectively use the Altar, a Coven needs the Daemonic Pact and Icon Bearer upgrades as well. Add 65 Pts, add 125 for the Altar, now buy a few extra daemons for the Daemon Pool as you will be able to summon more...

2xAP6+ is similiar on ordinary fire actions, but the dynamics change on doubles or sustains. Not much though...

Why would a Coven with an Altar need an Icon Bearer?  The Altar has Daemonic Focus already included.

This is the list of changes so far to the L&D list.

1. Switched Arch Heretic and Demagogue names so they now match their definitions.

Demagogue-leaders who obtains power by means of impassioned appeals to the emotions and prejudices of the populace.

Arch Heretic-The chief : principal person who holds controversial opinions, especially one who publicly dissents from the officially accepted dogma of the Emperor.

2. Split Demagogue (formerly Arch Heretic) and Aspiring Champion into two separate stats

3. Changed Questor cost to 275pts and Subjugator to 250pts

4. Questor and Subjugator can now form mixed formations

5. Subjugator Hellblades are changed to Extra Attacks(+2) TK(D3)

6. Waiting on answer to Critical Effects on Greater Daemons and Chaos Altar

7. Changed what can be transported by Chimera and Land Transport.  Explanation of what must be transportedis changed to infantry units that move 15cm or less.

8. Changed Big Mutants Heavy Stubber AP5+ to 2x Hvy Stubber AP6+ to keep consistent with Heavy Stubber stats.

9. Change break down of traitor units in the coven as follows.
up to 3 Leman Russ 70pts each
up to 4 Traitor Support?25pts each
up to 2 Hydras?50pts each
up to 3 Griffons?35pts each
up to 3 Hellhounds?50pts each

Some thoughts/comments/etc. on Chaos :  Juggers and Slann Riders = Bikes ?   Flying discs = Land Speeder ?   Beastmen = Mutants   Minotaurs = Big Mutants?  Trolls = Zombies ?  Just some ideas from the Old School with all those minis in my War Room !   :laugh:

All sounds good, although

I dont think the subjugator was costed wrong at 225pts, it is very specialised and with the low strategy rating of the lost and the damned its a little tricky to use.

Also I am still very much of the opinion land transporters should be 15pts.

I've been using Slaanesh Riders as Rough Riders in my Cultist list, though they probably are more like Chaos Marine bikes.

I've used minotaurs and trolls as Big Mutants and beastmen as regular Mutants; it all works out pretty well.
