Hi all,

My name is Dale and together with my wife Lydia we run HLS Models, which can found at http://www.hlsmodels.com.

Some of you have already found us of course, but I thought it would great to introduce myself and thank you for the great response we have had already.

We supply Onslaught miniatures, Exodus Wars and Troublemaker Games and plastic 6mm miniatures and terrain.

Thanks,

Dale

Hi Dale, I have a suggestion: preorders. You have some exodus wars items out of stock, others in stock and I would like to order them both - the idea being to reserve the in stock items and then dispatch them all together when the out of stock items arrive.

The reason for this is that I tend to find with small retailers, by the time the OOS items come in, some of the other items have now gone OOS - so you're always waiting for stock and never end up ordering anything. I'm sure not everyone thinks like this, I just personally a) hate paying for postage and b) don't really need any of these models (I have enough!), so am in no hurry.

It may make sense to only do this for items where stock is on order - for things whose restock timeframes are more difficult you won't be able to give people an estimate (or at least not a realistic one) and that can make people nervous. Either way, communication is the key - if things take longer than expected, have your system send an email so they have the choice to just send the in stock items straight away. Oh and in case you're wondering, I don't mind paying up front for the whole order - otherwise you're left holding reserved stock you cannot sell.

Hi Kyrt,

Thanks for your comments. I will absolutely consider your suggestion.

I would love to offer this but I didn't want to over commit us and I wanted to make sure that, at least in the beginning, we offer a service that is quick and reliable.

I will keep everyone posted if we change this and allow for pre-orders but at this point I am not sure when that might be. You are absolutely right that communications is key to this and I will do my best to keep everyone update to on what we are doing and how we are able help you guys.

Cheers for now

Dale

First, I'll echo what Kyrt said. All that, +1.

Then, this. I don't have Facebook or Twitter (horrible things, boo hiss). I have G+ though, as it's far less spammy. I guess that means I'll only be able to complain that I can't order all the EW things I want to. :(

Hi Doomkitten,

I hope to never give you opportunities to complain :P .

Yeah agree with facebook and twitter comments but my pact with devil stipulates use of those evil places.

Cheers,

Dale

Hi Junkstar,

Can I just say thank you for raising this issue with us. We have identified and fixed the process which meant that your original email to us was not dealt with as quickly as we would have like. This will not happen in again in future.

I will send you an email separately to confirm the action we are taking but please be assured that we will be replacing the pack of miniatures for you. This will get sent to you as quickly as possible and we will send you an email to confirm when it has been shipped.

Thank you again so much for raising this issue, we know how important this stuff is and we really want to deliver to best for all the guys in this awesome community.

Cheers,

Dale

Here is are a few pictures of a supposedly fragile package, note not boxed but in a jiffy bag

No other packing within the jiffy bag bar cling film, thats right cling film

Two boxes split due to the miracle packaging, models loose in jiffy bag and guess what - damaged

Charged £13.20 for postage yet franked at £10. £3.20 for an envelope and clingfilm doesnt cut it
