We've unfortunately had to change the free postage thresholds recently. I know this will be an unpopular decision so I wanted to take some time to talk through the mathematics with you all. The cost of postage was increased back in Q2 last year but we wanted to monitor the situation for a while. Free postage is essentially a bulk buy discount and we like to have it as a static 20% off, last year in the EU it was running at approx. 35% off and that unfortunately isn't sustainable.

Firstly the new thresholds will be:
UK - from £15 to £20
EU - from £30 to £50
Rest of the World - Unchanged.

The average postage cost is as follows:
UK - £4.10
EU - £10.48
Rest of the World - £12.50

We calculate the discount using the following formula.

a) Being the average postage cost.
b) Being the discount you are aiming for.
c) Being the threshold you result in.

a * (1 / b) = c

We will also be changing the postage fees to:
UK - £4.10
EU - £10.50
Rest of the World - £12.50

I'm really sorry to disappoint you guys but 20% really is the best possible discount we can manage :S.

We still maintain the best free shipping deal of any 6mm company.

Postage will remain free at all times to members of the UK armed forces when using a BF postal address.

Sad but fair and I'm sure most sales will qualify for the discount.

Changes sound very reasonable to me, and almost no impact for people outside UK/Europe so good news from that perspective.

It most certainly is chap. Any order over £60 will find it's postage refunded when you reach the checkout stage.
