Chaps,

Apologies to all of you who have looked on the online store with woe and seen it is out of stock. Have no fear, it isn't due to casting problems, it isn't due to the alignment of the sun and the moon, it is because we took the opportunity to let a small mammal at it. Basically we noticed a few problems with the original model, namely that it didn't fit on standard flight stands. So we have done a we bit of tinkering, it is still the model that you all know and love, but now it is more 'compatible'.

Oh and it'll come with optional rocket pods / battle cannon.

I'll leave it to Otterman to show off his exceptional renders ;).

Ehm. Well. Since our esteemed Otter is probably asleep (or out catching fish, or whatever otters do this time of day in his part of the world), here's the renders.
Like Tom said there'll be an optional tankbuster cannon and rocket launcher to fit beneath the rotors along the sides of the main body.

Looking at the render I think I might suggest a slight alteration to the nose but I'll let O-man sleep for now. I've heard you shouldn't nag amphibious mammals about such things untill they've had their morning fish.

And a side view. The cockpit part has been made a bit smaller and raised a bit compared to the rest of the body. Also the chin gun has been moved up quite a bit.

As you can see, the main difference compared to the old model is the addition of the engine turbines/forward thrusters on top of the body.

Really nice, now when is the troop carrying variant being designed?

Go on, you know it makes sense  :agree:

We have one :p, it is called the Droid Controller :D.

Seriously - we have a full development queue at the moment but ideas like this are easy to add to the list so keep 'em coming. You might not see them for a significant time, but you'd be surprised at just how many of our designs have come from people making suggestions on these forums, or approaching me at the pub when I'm lagered up for that matter.

Well if you added a troop 'box' behind the cockpit I reckon I could find a very good use for both models!

Also will you be sticking with 3 to pack for these? I'd have thought even numbers would have made more sense for some reason

Well, I quite like the idea of four to a pack - since we are doing a redesign it kinda makes sense. That way they can hunt in pairs.

How do the turbofans work if their airflow is obstructed by weapons? Maybe mount under the engines? Or have an options 'Hind' conversion of a underslung weapons pod/array?

Lots o'room between fusalage and fans.
At least for a couple o'anti-tank missiles.

Yup - Panic ye not, WMN is well ahead, the design features the cannons and rockets under the fuselage, in the bit between the main frame and the fans.

How 'bout doing a separate troop "container" to be added to the original model?   Or would a troopship require larger engines?

Larger engines aside, it would be a bit cramped on the model, not much room between the turbines and the fuselage. I think it would be a completely new model.
