I know its pretty pedantic ... but does anyone have any suggestions on how to differentiate these two, (human) snipers and ratling snipers?

Why not call one snipers and the other ratlings?

I've done a conversion with an Eldar Ranger and an SM/TL era Guardsmen.
I cut the head and right leg off them both and used the guardsmen head and leg on the Rangers body. I also filed off the shoulder pads. They came out pretty good, I'll see if I can find a picture for you.
Dark Realms have a sniper team in the works as well.
