Post subject:  Demolishers poll and review
I field Demolisher's in most games and have not had a problem with them.  I'm curious as to what peoples arguments are for upgrading them?

I've read the SG posts about upgrading the Demolisher Cannon in general but what are peoples thoughts to this and the effect that it might have on the tank in game?

As of right now the only option I am set against is changing the sponson weapons to Heavy Flamers/Bolters and adding Thick Rear Armour.  I see the Demolisher as more of a shock tank than a close in tank.

Why is that even a considered option, when the model isn't armed with Heavy Bolters/Flamers and it's supposed to have the same armour profile as a Leman Russ?

I threw it on there because TRC suggested it on the main IG review thread.  I agree with you though, I don't think it's viable.

again don?t fix if not broken. The discussion about Demolisher cannon is mostly regarded to the Vindicator assault tank.

If the main gun changed then it would need a tweak down. However the demolisher is a sod for the vindicator as the tank is quite well balanced and a nice choice currently. Really taken on its own it should be left alone, its just does the vindicator discussion impact on it?

I've no idea where the tra/sponson weapons came from, can't remember if that was me or a summery of others points. Twould be an option to balance it with small arms ignore cover (plus hve bolter and tra) for a slight boost and decrease.

The Leman Russ Demolisher is over-powered for its cost and needs moved down in power, not up.

I know this goes against conventional wisdom, but for its points cost the Vindicator is just fine.  If people are dead set on improving the speed of the Vindicator they had better raise its points cost also.

I would have thought that the range decrease of the demolisher cannon would be enough to offset its improved stats.  At the same time, the plasma cannons firing every other turn would be enough to offset their improved stats.

Have other people found that the Demolisher is over-priced?
