I'd like to cull at least four (maybe more) units from the list before the next version.

Up on the chopping block are:

- Chimeras
- Hydras
- Deathstrikes
- Thunderer Siege Tanks
- Super-Heavy Mortar
- Griffons
- Snipers
- One super-heavy tank variant.
- Rapier Laser Destroyer

Reasonings:

- Chimeras:
It's been revealed that the Korps don't use them, easy decision.

- Hydras:
There's an overlap here with the heavy AA gun, and the heavy AA gun is more in-theme with the WWI-style flak gun.

- Deathstrikes:
Although the use of uber-weapons is in-theme with the Death Korps, this is one unit I think the list could lose without too great an impact on the way the list operates.

- Thunderer Siege Tanks.
It really pains me to propose this one, but if any Leman Russ variant is to be dropped, I think it has to be this one.

- Super-Heavy Mortar.
ForgeWorld abandoned (For now, at least) this concept, so it might as well be removed.

- Griffons
The Griffon's mortar is used by the Death Korps as a company-support weapon, not in a self-propelled chassis. I think it should definitely go.

- Snipers
They don't appear in the 40k armylist... so perhaps they should be removed from the Epic armylist too.

- A SHT variant.
Only if we can get a consensus on which should go. My preferred solution here would be that we keep all four, but I understand why some people might think this is a bad idea.

- Rapier Laser Destroyer
It never appeared in the 40k armylist, despite seeming appropriate... should it come out?

Okay, let's discuss, and propose.

I'm happy with all the changes you suggest.

I'd propose the Shadowsword for the one to get rid of, keeping the Stormblade to try to fill its shoes.

Are you going to be adding in the DC2 tanks at some point?

In regards to the Macharius, it really should just be a twin-linked battle cannon, regardless of what Forge World do with its 40K statistics.

Yes, the Macharius tanks will definitely be going in.

The Malcador tank will not go in, at least for the moment, since noone's yet seen its stats.

Hena: You realise that if the Shadowsword AND the Deathstrikes are dropped, the Korps will get slapped silly by enemy War Engines?

This is a list for debate, I doubt more than 4-6 of the above will actually come out... so I'd like to hear solid reasons for them all from others too... some of my own reasons are quite tenuous to my ears.

EDIT: ADDED RAPIER to the list above.

Keep the Shadowsword, Swordblade, and Baneblade (in the tourney list), I would include the Stormsword in the units list and have it for campaign use, since it is the result of 'repairing' a heavily damaged Swordblade and Shadowsword.

Dropping the Thunder from the GT list is fine, again having it in the unit list for campaign use would be good I think.

Otherwise yes agree with all of them.

If you take out the Deathstrikes you should leave in the Shadowsword.

When they find the time. :)

Epic is always competing for sculptor's time with 40k... and 40k sells more... but we should continue to see new stuff every so often...

Death Korps, not so soon, however. :(

I read a copy of the Siege of Vraks today, and the following crossover units do NOT appear in the Death Korps armylist for 40k:

- Snipers
- Chimeras
- Super-Heavy Mortar
- Griffons
- Rapier Laser Destroyer

So, just to start with, all the above are gone.

Also worthy of note is the Death Korps version of the Medusa heavy gun.

In 40k, the Death Korps get a version of the Medusa which is fitted to a stationary platform, has a 36" range like a normal medusa, but unlike the normal one, it is allowed to buy an upgrade that allows it to fire Indirect.

This is a big change.

So, proposed stats:

- Medusa, fixed platform version, krieg pattern -
30cm range
BP3

Indirect, Ignores Cover

Or, should we stay with the self-propelled version of the Medusa that's currently in the list?

It's worth noting that although FW don't sell a suitable pack, the Medusa gun they do sell fits perfectly onto the stationary platform model they sell, so it's a very simple conversion.

Thoughts?

- DEATH RIDERS -

Also worthy of note is that the Death Riders have a Company HQ choice in 40k... so I'm probably going to modify the Death Riders Company to be 11 Death Rider bases, plus one Death Rider HQ base (Similar upgraded stats to a normal Company Command base).

Note that Death Riders in 40k have 'augmented' steeds that grant them a 6+ Invulnerable Save.

Should this also be carried over into the Epic list?

Carrying over the 6+ Inv Sv is not something that needs to be in the Death Riders for Epic.

Also Inv Save is more often seen in 40k (every character seems to have them now a days). So simply having one isn't a merit for that to be put in Epic.

I mention it merely because the Death Riders ride genetically modified steeds (Their horses have no hair, and claws instead of hooves!), which gain the exceptional benefit of an invulnerable save in 40k, something Rough Riders normally do not get.
