We had our first Death Korps playtest game the other day! The table was less than ideal (only 4x3.8 feet because the other half of the table was comandeered for Necromunda) so we decided to play only a 2300pts game. We didn't do a full battle report because of the table size, but it's worth giving some of our initial impressions. Here's my armylist (Numbers of units included for the unfamiliar): HQ Infantry Company (20 bases) - 450 Infantry Company (20 bases) - 350 2 Gorgon Siege Transporters (2 3DC transports) - 150 Death Rider Company (12 bases) - 250 Warhound Titan (Standard Config) - 250 Medusas (3 self-propelled artillery) - 250 Stormsword (1 super-heavy tank) - 200 2x Manticores & 1x Hydra - 200 2x Manticores & 1x Hydra - 200 Total: 2300 ![]() Apologies that most of the army in evidence is unpainted! I had to drop quite a few of my fully painted models to get down to 2300pts! I was up against Pulsar's armoured convoy / Aspect Warrior Eldar... and with a little luck he'll post his list soon. ![]() |

Anyways, this game was a solid 2-0 victory for the Death Korps on turn 4 IIRC! Note that I rolled 11 Commissars, so everything on the board had one. Some thoughts about how the units performed: Infantry Companies: As expected they are slow and hard hitting. There were one or two Korps-favourable assaults during the game that went their way, but on the flipside they spent the rest of the game getting blasted apart by the Eldar's ranged shooting (At one point a single BP3 attack killed 7 bases, including my SC!) Death Tally: About 25 bases died, including both commanders. Gorgons: - Quite resilient, but one did get taken out during the game by Lance fire, taking 6 transported units of infantry with it as it exploded and breaking the formation (Which never rallied after that). Price of 150 seemed okay. Death Tally: One destroyed, one completely unharmed. Death Riders - - Without Scout they are very very vulnerable to blast templates! They still pulled off a couple of winning assaults during the game. Death Tally: 6 bases died. Warhound Titan (Standard Config) - - Spent half the game running around killing stuff with only 1DC left. ![]() Death Tally: Destroyed. Medusas - - They didn't last long enough to tell really. The only target they fired at was the Sword of Vaul formation early in the game (Swords of Vaul doubled up to shoot at my lines, and since they were close the Medusas stepped forwards and unleashed). They were later wiped out by ranged fire. Death Tally: All three destroyed. Stormsword - This Superheavy is exeptionally AP-biased (5 weapons are AP, and it also has a 3BP weapon). It is exceptionally short ranged too for a SHT. However it performed superbly, any time it had an infantry target available it laid down a withering hail of fire (Though much of it was on AP5/6+ due to cover modifiers). An exceptional outing for this tank. Death Tally: Survived unscathed! 2x Manticores & 1x Hydra - These performed about as you'd expect, deployed back near my blitz goal they reached out to touch the Eldar formations repeatedly. I would have lost one of the formations to ranged fire in turn two, but the formation rolled three 6's for armour saves! Death Tally: Both formations survived unscathed. All in all I lost many, many units, but still took a win! (IIRC I had BTS & HoldTL) The Eldar were similarly battered at the end of the game. Okays Pulsar... your turn. ![]() |

ok here we go: Howling Banshee Troupe Falcons would have done ok if E&C had not made 3 six up saves in turn 2, some tactical laying of blast markers ment, that assault on death riders, Autarch as all ways the only time his attacks counted i role one's and ran away, lasted till turn 4 and got shot. Death tally: all dead Dark Reaper Troupes i did a silly thing and moved them close to the death core! they killed a few stands of Infantry Companies and Death riders each. Death tally: both dead Warp Spider Troupe took out the Medusas witch E&C got mixed up. got shot and taken down two one Exarch stand witch then failed too rally at the end of turns 2 and three. Death tally: 3 stands dead Sword Of Vaul did what thet always do and ziped around shoting suff, 2 DC off the warhound (in one shot) and a Gorgon plus the 6 transported units of infantry, these are by far and away my favorite formation. ![]() ![]() ![]() Death tally: half left Shields Of Vaul Both got a bit Manticored in turns one and two but did well Death tally: one with two and one on it's own Engine Of Vaul Scorpion spent most of the game threating the Gorgons and nocking of random stands here and there but it finished off the warhound Death tally: 1 DC left all in all was a good game. I am a bit annoyed at my wasting of the Dark Reaper Troups (note to self, is not a good idea to get guys with a 5+ armour save into a firefight with Death core Infantry Companies.) ![]() |

What Eldar armylist have you used? If it is Biel-Tan then your army is illegal because Biel-Tan is only allowed to field 0-1 Aspect Troupes (4 units). All others must be Aspect Warhosts (8 units). |

ok i've been using an illegal liist then, i read it as 1+. how in the hell did i not see that? ![]() Sorry E&c i'll redo the list and we can have a rematch soon! if everybody can now use this topic to tell me just how stupid i am that would be useful ![]() |

hahaha awesome. ![]() Now I know why Hobo was so scathing of your list! ![]() I can't rematch you this week, but by next (FINGERS CROSSED!!!!) I should be fully moved into my new house, so things'll be easier. |
