There has always been something that makes no sense to me about the baneblade (other than how undergunned it is ) and that is why the demolisher cannon is fixed fowards arc. Whilst everything else can fire all round (including the (twin linked) heavy bolter right next to it).
This is true for both the lucius pattern and the normal pattern in the guard list.
Now since (as far as I can remember) a desire to upgun it I have thought that all the guns should be given arcs, to help blance its increased ability.
So its weapons would be Left arc; 1 Twin linked heavy bolter and 1 las cannon right arc; 1 Twin linked heavy bolter and 1 las cannon fixed forwards; 1 twinlinked heavy bolter and 1 demolisher cannon all round; 1 battle cannon (shouldn't that be mega battle cannon) and 1 autocannon

I agree, fixed arcs would be sensible, it's an issue that's confused me too.

I'd have to look at the 40k-scale version again, but I remember the forward HB turret may be able to cover the entire Front 180* arc... never mind, I just looked at the pics on FW. The forward HB turret is screened by the track units (piss-poor design, IMO), so would only be able to shoot into the Fixed Forward arc.

My style baneblades took to the field the otherday. I was running the game so I didn't get to use them but one of my minions did.
They destroyed a tactical formation with two razorbacks, leaving only the captain alive.
The sheer amount of firepower they can output to the front is hedious, but the arcs do compensate for it.
In the game the marines teleported some termies behind a tank company (which were behind the baneblades) then ground attacked the formation with a thunderhawk containing a devastator formation and two multimelta dreads, a retained engage with the termies broke the tanks and left them with only 4 models.
The termies suffered 5 6+ CC attacks and 12 4+ FF attacks (from the leman russ and supporting blades) and didn't lose a single stand!
After this assault the marines were safe from the blades guns because they were in its rear arc and it couldn't sustain on them with many guns, so they tried to advance and failed their initative test.

Wow. Talk about dice Karma, Rags. You must have been taking all my good luck (played 40k, rolled 5 ones on 7 dice. Most of the rest of my rolls weren't much better, either)!
I much prefer the 'Ragnarok-pattern' fire arcs (call it the Mars pattern with a mega-battlecannon, Lucius-pattern without). It just works better (even if Baneblades are still really short ranged).
