I had a game vs a player using the experimental Saranes Expanse list last night. It was a terrific game full of dramatic moments and huge swings in the balance of power.

A list that can combine terminators (to make opponents castle) and manticores (to make them spread out), leman russes and thunderhawks (easy to set up crossfire when empty) or can simply ignore its SM allies to build something very similar to Steel Legion with Strategy Rating 3 as a free bonus is obviously pretty powerful.

I had intended to offer photos, a quick battle report and feedback on the list but since it's hardly been mentioned for a while is there even any demand for it or has it dropped off the radar?

Its my actual core list I play for fun. That alas is sadly few and far between.
totally unfit for competition however

I played Groover's list at Cancon a coupel of years back. I'm not a fan of it for all the resons you list above. While the restrictions (e.g only 1 Terminator formation etc) keep the list in check to a degree, it's still let's you smash stuff at range with arty and then smash it up close with a Landing craft and Terminators. The restricitions are minimized by the fact that you don't need 2 Terminator formations when you've got Leman Russ companies and arty etc along for the ride as well.

Well, this list would be definitly played by myself if i get more games with epic. But my current list is AMTL. But I have marines and a lot of IG too, so it will be one day where to combine them. I've PN'd Chroma in the case of development in November 12 and since there nothing was officially done about the list AFAIR. This list would be definitly worth to approve it. Let's see after AMTL get approved status.

this list is terrible and should be left dead. As someone suggested above it just takes the best bits from IG and SM and combine them. Cheeeeese....

Yes, that's true. But: how do we can manage to balance this issue? I love the idea of combining IG, Marines, Imperial Fleet and AMTL in one list.

And remember: In the 2010er Compendium this list was developmental. Changed to experimental.

Allow only scouts, tacticals, devastators and assault squads from the SM list.

So no Thunderhawk, and all the tanks from the marines?

Would be interesting to take this list from Chroma, if he agrees. This would be definitly worth to get to approved.

Maybe 0-2 thunderhawks.

But it's best to keep it very restricted to avoid it becoming tve super OP list of ultimate doom! And ir could easily becomevthat considering you're combining the 2 armylists that wins most tournaments...

IG and SM tanks to much? It's bit obvious to take LR Coys instead of Preds. I don't think that this is main issue. LR is also weak or costs to much compared to Leman Russes.

So, I played recently against this list, and it was a big surprise to see static IG with the highly mobile SM together! I think A good solution can be the raising of the points costs of some units -for example, all the SM units, so they can be just an "upgrade" to an IG list.. Or drop the specialist units, like Drop Pods, etc. It's too much to have EVERYTHING in the same list.

No, SM MUST have that! It's their greatest strenght, and tha difference between chaos and imperial marines.. keep it 40k, just update it please

I'd rather the list quietly died, it's too unbalanced.

If you want SM and Guard play a large multiplayer game and ally a SM army with an IG army.
