How about just having a Hellhound formation? They're useful in the Cadian list in a formation of 6. Nothing crazy or amzeballz but not worthless either. i will admit this MAY be butting into the Cadian elite theme however. Uvenlord I'm sure would/should have input on that. |

why not just add them as a separate formation? I'd rather take three hellhounds than 4 sentinels for 100 points if there was the option in steel legion the inspiring rule is needlessly fiddly IMO, IG already have their fair share of inspiring characters pretty much none of the unit upgrades get much utility, infantry platoons, tank squadrons, griffons and hellhounds are all incredibly rare.... it's a casualty of guard core formations already being big and expensive |

yeah this^^. Also I think if we took a bigger harder look at the artillery in the game instead we'd likely see some adjustments in builds that would make these rarer units more attractive (e.g. arty companies starting at 6 units) as there'd be more points around. |

We already have a "Formation Leader" special ability in the Tau list now with Bonded Team, I was wondering how long it would take until we got a "Formation Inspiring" suggestion. I think both could be useful, which is why I'd rather see them as special rules for units (i.e. listed in 2.1) than in these one-off army list notes. We can come up with better names, but what I'm suggesting is something like this: Quote: Formation Inspiring Some units or characters are noted as being formation inspiring. A formation that includes any formation inspiring units when working out the result of a combat adds +1 to the result roll. Quote: Formation Leader Some units or characters are noted as being formation leaders. A formation that includes any formation leader units may remove one extra Blast marker whenever it regroups or successfully rallies. On whether or not HH should have that, maybe. I agree with kyuss that we don't see HH much is due to the Mech Coy being expensive to start. Sure, you could give them to a Infantry Coy, but then you're given up garrison and slowing down the HH. I'd use a 3-6 strong HH support formation though, or take them if Mech Coy's were smaller/cheaper (in a variant list). |
