Yeah that would be a support sentinel look, right?

Mulaaki all the way or otherwise why bother? :D

I would agree but its easy to get RR models, while mulaaki will currently have to be proxied (http://www.steelcrowngames.com/products ... ter-patrol). But since the fluff says that the only advantages of mulaaki are endurance, there probably isn't much to differentiate between a horse and lizard mount at epic scale.

Infiltrator. And that's along the lines of how Defilers are Infiltrators. They're both not sneaky but instead are hard to stop when charging. That's basically a guy riding a fricking dinosaur at you ;D

Also with the entire range OOP, model availability is about the worst thing to care about now in list development. Hell, because they're so easily proxied from Exodus Wars, unlike Rough Riders, they're in better shape when it comes to availability! Nothing stops anyone with existing collections of Rough Riders from using them in a Counts-as (perhaps these are UBER-elite Rough Riders for that army instead?)

And speaking of OOP....I've now got to track down some sentinels. About a dozen to cover what may or may not be needed/used.

Good to know! And, if you can, do more. I need feedback and a bit of guidance here. I've never created a force list for epic and I really want to get it right.

I much prefer Space Desert Rats, lead by some guy named Lawrence.

How goofy would a sentinel be armed with a single or twin-linked sabre autocannon (in essence, a "flak" sentinel)?

How about a Sabre-type AA gun that is towed by a trooper on a quadbike or a Tauros?

Forgeworld used to sell a Sabre in Epic scale:

Here's a list concept for you to chew over, perhaps?

COMPANIES

Reg HQ Company - 12x Infantry, 1x Supreme Commander - 350
Infantry Company - 12x Infantry, 1x Commander - 250

SUPPORT FORMATIONS

Scout Platoon - 8x Tallarn Veterans - 225
Rough Rider Platoon - 6x Rough Riders - 150
Heavy Rough Rider Platoon - 6x Heavy Rough Riders - 200
Scout Sentinels - 4x Sentinels - 100
Support Sentinels - 4x Support Sentinels - 150
Light Support Platoon - 4x Light Hauler Teams and 4x Fire Support Units, or 4x Heavy Mortars, or 4x Quad Launchers, or 4x Sabre AA Platforms - 200
Tauros Squadron - 4 Tauros or Tauros Venators - 150

COMPANY UPGRADES

Fire Support Platoon - 4x Fire Support Units - 100
AA Platoon - 4x Sabre AA Platforms - 100
Infantry Platoon - 6x Infantry - 100
Desert Raiders - 4x Tallarn Veterans - 100

IMPERIAL NAVY

Two Thunderbolt Fighters - 150
One Marauder Heavy Bomber - 150
0-1 Orbital Support - Lunar 150, Emperor 200

New Units:

Tallarn Veterans
Type, Infantry
Speed, 15cm
CC, 5+
FF, 4+
Armour, None
Weapons: Sniper Rifle, 30cm, AP5+
Notes: Scouts, Have a 6+ cover save in the open, or +1 to their cover save when in cover.

Heavy Rough Riders
Same as normal rough riders, but lose scout and gain a 5+ armour save

Support Sentinel
Same as normal Sentinel, but lose scout and swap multilaser for:
Weapons: Rocket Pod, 30cm, 1BP

Light Hauler Team
Type, Infantry
Speed, 25cm
CC, 6+
FF, 6+
Armour, None
Weapons: None
Notes: Transport (1 from the following: Fire Support, Heavy Mortar, Thudd Gun, Sabre Platform)

Heavy Mortar
Type, Infantry
Speed, 5cm
CC, none
FF, 6+
Armour, none
Weapons: Heavy Mortar, 30cm, 1BP, Indirect Fire

Quad Launcher
Type, Infantry
Speed, 5cm
CC, none
FF, 5+
Armour, none
Weapons: Quad Launcher, 45cm, 2x AP4+, Indirect Fire

Sabre Platform
Type, Infantry
Speed, 5cm
CC, none
FF, 5+
Armour, none
Weapons: Sabre Autocannons, 45cm, AP4+/AT5+/AA5+

Tauros
Type, LV
Speed, 35cm
CC, 6+
FF, 5+
Armour, 6+
Weapons: Grenade Launcher, AP5+ / AT6+
Notes: Walker

Tauros Venator
As Tauros, but swaps Grenade Launcher for a Twin Lascannon, 45cm, AT4+

Perhaps some scope for a transport version of the Tauros that carries 1 squad, ala the Centaur's function in the Death Korps list (Veterans would have them as a transport upgrade choice)?

Perhaps some scope for heavy artillery/AA - Basilisk & Hydra platforms? With a utility version of the Tauros able to haul them ala Trojans?

General idea was to avoid all LV's and WE's to make it a light infantry army.

E&C, that concept is a bit different than mine, but at least you're giving the Tauros some love.

I still see a need for a small squadron of AV...Conquerors fit the bill because they're fast(er).

Personally I was hoping to avoid creating any new units, and pick stuff that existed first before getting more creative.

And I still see the need for a Sentinel Company as a Core choice. Oh, and unless the unit is a vehicle or "teleports", everything should have transport (Chimera or some sort of light transport).

The veterans need a missile launcher, as that fits more than a sniper rifle. The idea being putting a team into a position without being seen, fire and forget against a light armored column of supplies and such. Their target isn't actually individual units of infantry.

So, the concept of my original list still stands, however the upgrades and normal/heavy Rough Riders, plus Venetors I agree to include somehow.
