First attempt at a Minervan Legion list. I don't own the models yet and have been getting into Epic with a Marine list so I appreciate there will be differences, but the general idea is to trundle forward and shoot the living crud out of everything in sight ![]() Tank company (LRx10), Supreme Commander Flak Tank company (LRx10) Flak Thunderbolts SHT company Flak Hellhounds Hellhounds Salamander platoon Salamander platoon Mechanised platoon Flak Total 3000pts. 9 activations altogether. Each of the tank/SHT companies, and the mechanised platoon, gets a flak. Thunderbolts intercept any pesky flyers, the Hellhounds barbecue any infantry threatening the Russes, and the Salamanders nip around ZOCing things and being annoying. Feel free to pick it apart ![]() |

Mech Platoons can't take Flak, as they're a Support formation. Only the Companies can take upgrades. Similarly, Hellhounds may only be taken as an upgrade, not as an independant formation. IG are less flexible than Space Marines, and therefore the Minervans have the following restrictions on their lists: Any number of Companies. Each Company may take 0-3 Company Upgrades, though they may only take one of each upgrade. This is the only way to get Company Upgrades. 0-2 Support Formations per Company. And as usual, no more than 1/3 of the armies points may be spent on Allied Formations. I find that IG are always more effective with at least some Artillery. My recommendation is to take batteries, which are more flexible than Companies. Likewise, Manticores are better than Basilisks due to the larger barrage, greater range, and Disrupt, though of course they get fewer shots off. You may be surprised at how slow (relatively) Minervans are, and may want another Squadron of T-Bolts to strafe the backfield and any broken formations. |

I was wondering about artillery being a bit too vulnerable since everything else in the list is mobile - one or two units of artillery sitting by themselves are airstrike/teleport bait. Is the SHT company overkill? |

SHTs arent overkill at all. For my own list I take two Manticore Batteries and a Salamander Squadron. That way the Sallies can screen the two batteries and prevent Teleporting (it works even with maximum seperation to protect against counterbattery fire). Never been a problem so far, though the local meta is largely Teleport and Air light right now. Maybe I can change that with my Vanaheim. |
