v1.2 Changes
Core:
None

Upgrades:
None

Support:
Added Armored Fist Platoon

Fortifications:
Wording changed to "Up to 50cm of trenches, and up to six gun emplacements."

Allies:
Marauder Colossus stats redesigned (see units) Cost changed to 300pts.

Units:
Stormlord FF changed to 3+. Typo/Holdover from v1.0.

Marauder Colossus: Colossus Bomb changed to fit background. Stats changed to 15cm, 3BP, IC, Fixed Forward, Slow Firing AND MW2+ TK(d3), Fixed Forward, Slow Firing. Turrets separated into one 15cm, AP4+/AA5+ Forward Arc, and one AA5+ Rear Arc. Added note: The Colossus Bomb’s MW attack must target the unit closest to the center of the Barrage attack.

Elite special rule changed to flat +1 to rally.

With any luck this is a list that can stay relatively stable in terms of structure and unit stats, so we can get some real playtesting done to hammer out costs on the new units.

Thanks for the update.

I expect to have my basic infantry models ready in ~1 week, after which I'll do lots of playtesting.

Got another game in last night with the following list:

Cadian Regimental HQ 650
1 Supreme Commander with Commissar
7 Kasrkin
1 Leviathan
2 Battle Psykers

Kasrkin Company 425
1 Commander with Commissar
7 Kasrkin
1 Stormlord

Kasrkin Company 425
1 Commander with Commissar
7 Kasrkin
1 Stormlord

Griffon Platoon 200
6 Griffons

Griffon Platoon 200
6 Griffons

Super Heavy Tank Platoon 200
1 Shadowsword with Commissar

Super Heavy Tank Platoon 200
1 Stormsword with Commissar

Super Heavy Tank Platoon 200
1 Stormsword with Commissar

Artillery Battery 250
3 Manticores

Artillery Battery 250
3 Manticores

Played against a Biel Tan drop list. Now this was the first time my opponent had played such a list, but nonetheless he made a good showing, trapping and destroying one of the Kasrkin Companies on the drop. I did win 3-0 (BTS, TNH, TSNP) in the end.

Thoughts: This army is capable of bringing a LOT of templates to the party. The count for my list maxed out at 2-6 Disrupt, 4 Standard, and a MW template per turn. Against an infantry heavy force, they are brutal. I'm not sure it's more than a Steel Legion army could, in fact I doubt it, but it's worth mentioning. It also is confined more towards the direct fire and fire support than the Steel Legion, whose templates tend towards true artillery.

There is also the opportunity to have a great number of Superheavies. Given the importance of the Cadian gate, I'm not sure this is a bad thing, but should be watched. It should also be mentioned that the living Kasrkin company singlehandedly took the TNH objective, and that the Cadian RHQ was instrumental in fighting off the drop (firing the shot got me TSNP as well), so in that manner the infantry had a disproportionate influence on the game even with the number of SHTs I took.

I've been thinking about the fighting platforms on the Stormlord and Leviathan for the past few days. I'm concerned they are open to gamey abuse. Here's what I mean.

I have an RHQ with Fire support and two Psyker upgrades. I can move forward and fire from the platform with 4 Fire Support and the Supreme Commander. If I then get assaulted and pinned inside, I can FF with 4 Kasrkin and the two Psykers. This seems gamey, if not entirely unrealisitic.

Now, I like the Platforms from a fluff standpoint, especially on the Stormlord, but I'm concerned that the abuses may outweigh the thematic concerns. However, they do make staying inside a 15cm transport more attractive. What are people's opinions? Are the potential problems greater than what they bring to the units they are on?

How about:

Fighting Platform
Some super-heavy vehicles are equipped with a fighting platform which allows transported troops to take part in anassault.
Any transported unit in a unit with the Fighting Platform ability can't be trapped inside their transport vehicle if to much enemy units are in base contact to the transport.

Interesting. Definitely simpler, but as of now the Leviathan, for instance, is only able to FF 6 of it's 16 stand capacity. This is offset by the ability to hit the units directly. Also, there's a good likelyhood that the units will be fighting CC, not FF, as they should from a platform.

Would it be easier to remove the ability to shoot from the platform, so the units that should be using it are always the same?

Stormlords are under the "Assault Transport" Company Upgrade: add one or two at +200pt each.

IC is Ignore Cover. IIRC there were some spots there wasn't room on the line to spell it out.

Has anyone else been able to do any playtesting on this list yet? I've had a terrible time getting a game in the last month, so I've had little opportunity.

Getting my first game in this thursday.

I'll be using a downgraded Leviathan main cannon stat, though, because that thing is obviously overpowered.

Whiteshield Company - 200pts
Sabres - 100pts

Basilisk Platoon - 250pts
Tank Platoon - 400pts
Sentinel Squadron - 100pts
Storm Trooper Platoon - 350pts
Baneblade - 200pts
Flak Battery - 150pts

Thunderbolt Fighters - 150pts
Marauder Bomber - 150pts

I was thinking of dropping the range to 90cm, for starters.

Being able to sustain into an opponents deployment zone with a mw template on turn one... Not likely to be good.
