In the same style as E&C's E series of the Tau army list here i porpose the BL series for the Elysian Drop Troop armylist based in ImperialArmour 8. I trried to be as true to background/fluff a spossible. I could be more strict in using 3 units formations for certain now 4 unit formations (because full strength Squadrons are only 3 vehicles) but we all know that 3 unit formation are very difficult to work properly in Epic. The list can be found in the attachment. The list doesn't include yet: Long Range Ground Scanner (could be used as an Blitz Objective marker) Cyclops Remote Control Demolition Vehicle (perhabs a one unit upgrade with a 45cm one-shot MW5+ attack?) Elysian Sentry Gun Battery (perhaby included as a 3 unit garrison-able formation?) I'm still unsure what to do about Drop Special Weapons Squads And Drop Veteran units as both would do essentially the same. Also removing Iron Dicipline could be an option. Or changing this special rule to a special ability for Drop Supreme Commander and Drop Commander as in Wh40k this abillity only works if an officer is nearby. After all it IS the Wh40k version of Leader. I'm unsure, too, about the Valkyrie Sky Talon as it is described as not lingering around and providing supporting fire (other than the Valkyrie Airborne Assault Carrier and the Vendetta Gunship). If they would act as an Aircraft Formation which could only carry out Ground Attacks it would be more true to background. But the Valkyrie Sky Talon's Ground Attack types would be restricted to Landing and Air Assault. No Interception, no CAP, no ordinary Ground Attack. So this would create a formation of four Valkyrie Sky Talons which would act as a single WE Aircraft Transport rules wise with the exception that each "DC" lost would remove one Valkyrie Sky Talon (and thus firepower and, more importandly, transport space). Edit: BL-V2.1 now downloadable in the attachment.

Further thoughts about the Valkyrie Sky Talon: I know that introducung a WE-Aircraft Transport formation which constists of individual AV with the above mentioned restrictions to Ground Assaults would result in (many?) formations which could be used to stall activations in just choosing a Stand Down action. The same proposal without the restrictions to Ground Assaults could be used for a Valkyrie Airborn Assault Carrier Formation/Vendetta Gunship Formation without restrictions to the Ground Assault action as these skimmers (which can act as Flyers in both Apocalyspe and Aeronautica Imperialis) are known to linger around to provide supporting fire. Off course if this would be adopted then every unit would loose Teleport. Thoughts? |

Shouldn't this be known as the "BL" series? :-) |

I realise you may have the stats for the various units, but it would help to have the 'new' units in the pdf, because they are not all in the E:A book. Also, I am unsure whether you need present the page number reference for the IG in the E:A book. Also, could you explain the thinking behind dropping a unit in each of the platoons - in Honda's list they are 8 strong, but yours are 7 strong. Also unsure about the +25 point increases to the upgrades (over Honda's list) - could you explain the thinking So in summary, the list has more unit varients, but weaker drop formations and more expensive upgrades that will tend to force people to ignore them. While the varients are intruiging, and I acknowledge your superior knowledge here, Honda pointed out that the army relies on an activation superiority and the ability to concentrate on one part of the enemy's army. The proposal seems to advocate weakening a deliberately underpowered army slightly more, and I am not convinced it is necessary. |

1. Which units are missing? I thought i provided all datasheets? 2. I only deal in full formation. The Platoon is 1 Platoon Command Squad (5 men = 1 Epic unit) and 3 Infantry Squads (10 men = 2 Epic units each). 3. Ah i see. Drop Mortars and Drop Fire Support Upgrades should be 50pts each. Updated to BLV1.1 with the correct points cost. |

The lack of opponents and working late shifts is real annoying when developing an army list... ![]() |

Wasn't there some idea to include an Imperial Drop Ship? Something with a transport capacity of 4 fully loaded Valkyries? If including this i would replace the Lunar Class Cruiser with a Dictator Class Cruiser (exchanges the Pin-point attack with a transport capacity of 4 Imperial Drop Ships). |

There is a lack of conversation in this thread. Seems that your talking to yourself BL =) I do not have any of the IA nor do I know a lot about Elysians expect that there a hardcore drop/flying IG Reg. And with that said I start dropping my uninformed opinion. =) Quote: I could be more strict in using 3 units formations for certain now 4 unit formations (because full strength Squadrons are only 3 vehicles) but we all know that 3 unit formation are very difficult to work properly in Epic. Could you make a formation of 6 units? As you say its a squadron similar to a 3 tank LR squad? So maybe a 6 or 9 unit formation? Or even 10 including a command variant? Elysians version of a LR Tank Company? Also I always wondered where the E in the "E series" came from, kept wondering where was A,B,C and D. lol =) |

IA3 talks about Drop Sentinels deployed either as Squadrons in support of Infantry Platoons or as Companies of their own. Yes this would be 10 Drop Sentinels (3 Squadrons and a Command-Sentinel). The "E" form the E-Series comes form Evil&Chaos who developed an alternative proposal to the Tau army list which led to the current V6.2 Tau armylist. |
