Post subject:  Rules Clarification - IG Infantry suppression

I'm sure it's been discussed, but I can't find any rule on how to handle suppression of an Imperial Guard Infantry Company.

The rule says "Notes: Only one unit in every two has an autocannon. Count up the number of infantry units in the formation that can fire at the target formation and divide by two (rounding up) to find the number of autocannon shots you may take."

Now I can see that being read two ways, giving two fairly different results. It depends on if you count units "that can fire" before or after you apply suppression.

The rule allowing one-shot/slow (off-turn)/smallarms to count for suppression muddies the waters enough for me to not be able to predictably answer the question. So what's the intent?

I was doing it wrong for quite some time before the answer was revealed to be in the FAQ:

5.2 Imperial Guard
5.2.1
Q: How do you determine the number
of Autocannon shots an Imperial
Guard infantry formation has if units
in it are suppressed?

A: Work out Suppression for Imperial
Guard infantry before working out the
number of Autocannon shots. Any
Guardsman within 45cm of the enemy is
assumed to be in range and may therefore
be suppressed as long as they have a Line
of Fire. Count the number of remaining
Guard units and halve this total, rounding
up, to find the number of Autocannon
shots you may take.
