The following vehicles are being considered as having a place in the Elysian list. The Army Champ asked me to post these up here so we could discuss them in detail, so without a further do-wacky-do let's start this shindig. Imperial Guard Vendetta Type Speed Armour CloseCombat Firefight Armoured Vehicle 35cm 5+ 6+ 5+ Weapon Range Firepower Notes 3 x Twin Lascannon 45cm AT4+ - Notes: Skimmer, Scout. Transport (may carry two Infantry units). Any thoughts? Would this make the Vulture obsolete? My thought would be 'no'. It has half the range and hits on fours instead of twos. To me it would simply supplement the existing units. Then again, I don't see this as a make-or-break for the army list either. I could take it or leave it. -- Elysian FAV (Fast Attack Vehicle) Type Speed Armor CC FF LV 35cm 5+ 6+ 5+ Weapon Range Firepower Notes Heavy Bolter 30cm AP5+ Notes: Teleport, Transport (may carry one infantry unit). Thoughts on this armament? Honda and I threw around the idea of an autocannon instead of the Bolter. (45cm AP5+/AT6+). I really like this unit for its aesthetics if nothing else. It would certainly be a handy way to get a smaller group of infantry across the board without affording too much to the army. Another LV certainly doesn't do much but scream "shoot me", although having an AP/AT weapon would be really handy. My initial thought was 4 FAVs + 4 Elysian Drop Troops. Cost??? Heavy Valkyrie I don't even know where to start on the stats. No image and no hints as to what it can do... Perhaps somebody else has more info on it. |

Could the Vendetta be an upgrade/addition to the Vulture Squadron as opposed to another 'squadron of four' unit? |

Chroma: The Vendetta is a Valkyrie type transport, configured for anti-tank duties. |

Should it be an upgrade/addition to an existing squadron/formation, i.e. "Add one Vendetta Gunship to a Drop Troop formation for +x points" Or a "Squadron of four Vendettas for xx points" |

Wouldn't it be better to wait for IA8? |

Quote: (Evil and Chaos @ Oct. 01 2009, 21:06 ) Then why are you suggesting it be an upgrade for the Vulture squadron? Four Vultures and one Vendetta would be a nasty tank hunter formation. I was asking whether the Vendetta would be an "add one" unit or its own formation of four (or whatever number).  So organic AT support in a Valkyried-up Drop Troop formation or flying with Vultures, etc. |

Quote: (zombocom @ Oct. 01 2009, 21:01 ) Wouldn't it be better to wait for IA8? Probably. The Vendetta is the only unit we can stat for certain. We don't know what weapons the FAV will be allowed, or whether it will be allowed to carry infantry onboard. Likewise we don't know what the Valkyrie Heavy Lifter (skycrane) will be able to carry, or what guns it will have (if any). |

The Vendetta would be used as a straight swap for Valkyries. |

Land Raiders and Falcons do it all the time...  ![]() The Vendetta is considered a "gunship" instead of an "assault carrier" like the standard Valkyrie. "Often formed into roving search-and-destroy wings", despite having transport slots. |

Don't have the english names but in the german codex the Valkyrie is called a "Sturmtransporter" (= Assault Carrier) and the Vendetta is called a "Jagdtransporter" (= Hunt Carrier) |

And even after the AH-1 was deployed some UH-1s were still configured as a Gunship ... So there is some precedent ... ![]() |
