Here a very early draft.
I imagine the individual trooper to look something similar to this:
http://wh40k.lexicanum.de/mediawiki/ima ... Soldat.jpg

Their symbol would be a burning sword pointed upwards with wings.

Camouflage will be white with grey areas in charp contrast (so no feathered camouflage) to be better blend in with the crsytalline vegetation on the planet.

Main weapon is the Autogun instead of the Lasgun and the Missile Launcher and Grenade Launchers are widely used because their impact will cause the vegetation in the area to fracture and add to the carnage. Because of this energy based weapons are only used against tanks and buidlings/fortifications.

Seraphims are one of the rare IG troops who still se jump packs. They wield twin Flamer Pistols and Heavy Flamers.

No Valkyries or Vultures because the spores in the air would make short work on the engines.

No Rough Riders because the mounts wouldn't survive so they use Bikes instead.

No Bombard instead they use the Colossus.

Included the Leviathan (Commanders are much more protected there from the atmosphere than in the open).

So feel free to rip it apart and/or to add your own ideas :)

Edit:Draft V0.8

Okay some basic comments:

Companies and Support Formations mention the 'Steel Legion'.

Why do a PDF force have access to Leviathans?

Those are generally restricted to regimental commanders of full Guard regiments and higher, not lowly PDF forces.

Seraphim:
Firstly that's the same name as a Sisters of Battle jet pack unit.

Secondly their stats are incredibly awesome, and their points cost tiny.

Thirdly, why have a PDF army that typically operates inside *crystal forests* got a jet pack unit?

I like the Colossus.

No Valdor or Minotaur? (proxy models shall exist)

Why have a PDF force got better access to Imperial Navy aircraft than the Armageddon Steel Legion?

Why have you increased the cost of Hydras so much?

Overall the list doesn't feel like it has a coherent theme, as it mixes the high tech (jetpacks, variant Navy aircraft, Leviathans, as many Chimeras as the Steel Legion) and the low-tech (Malcadors & variants, no Super Heavy Tanks, no Valkyries or Vultures).

I took the latest Stell Legion PDf armylist and deleted/added some things. So no wonder there are still some things left which should be removed.

The mix of high- and low-tech is intended. The Leviathans (which someonementioned that company commanders could have one in earlier fluff), JumpPacks and Malcadors are left overs of the GreatCrusade wich allows some bizarre mix of low and high tech equipment. In the last 10.000 years the planet hadn't seen much war. Tithes are low and tithed regiments will be quickly forced to abandon their special equipment because they can't be replaced.
Some equipment can be produced on the planet itselfe (Malcadors) but Leman Russ are rare (they are only available as upgrades or i could remove them alltogether).

Seraphim: I know its a shared name. But it's the highes choir of angels in heaven so i thought it to be an appropiate name for the elite of an heaven themed army.
I have not come up with a points cost yet. It's a leftover fron the SL list.
As of modus operandi, well they like to have their enemys in the crystal forcest but htey semselfe tend to remain outside.
Besides it is an opportunity to finally use those Imperial Guard Assault Troopers :)

Valdor and Minotaur i simply have forgotten to add. The Minotaur could replace the Manticore or Basilisk.

Aircrafts are left overs from the SL PDF list i have greyed them to indicate that "historically" the army has none.

Hydras point cost are leftovers too. SL PDF Hydras are armageddon pattern with enclosed cabines so have 5+ armour instead of 6+.

I could send you the .odf file (OpenOffice) if you want to add your own ideas?

Edit: And it seems i can't spell titles today...:(

Aye you can do that.

You're going to need a better program than Open Office to put together a Supplement though.

I see it with the pimpn' up of the Red Corsairs list. After the 3rd page of units stats entrys it seriously jeopardizes the layout. Pictures start to jump several pages, empty pages appear etc.

Is Word better?

Well here is the .odt file.

See if you can get a Desk Top Publisher program such as Microsoft Publisher.

Wil look at this scribus thingy.

On topic:
I have thought a bit more about the concept of the PDF. I remembered an thread where we discussed about stats for the Leviathan and the Capitol Imperialis and there it was mentioned that there isn't a Heavy Infantry Guard army yet.
So i decide to give all Infantry carapace armour (5+ Save).
Leviathan will go but i will introduice the Capitol Imperialis.
No Chimeras as transport vehicles instead i will introduce the Stormlord super-heavy tank (or the Gorgon).
Adding the Stormsword would be an idea too.
Aircraft will be re-introduced. Resoning: The crystals will only be work as fuel if pricerssed. In its natural form they will only liquify if set in flame. So each aircraft is refitted with a "pre-burner" to heat up the air and thus liquify the crytstaline spores. Flying will feel like flying in a heavy rain but the spores wouldn't damage the engines.
Same for the Seraphim (which i will rename to Cherubim so that they won't tip on the armoured shoes of the Sisters of Battle) who use their flamer pistols if they land or start in crystaline terrain.
Vultures and Valkyries will be reintroduced. Butinsteadiof the Valkyrie iwould like to add the Vendetta. Teh Cherubim will deal with infantry while their Vendetta transports will deal with enemy tanks.
Vultures could be armed with twin Punisher Cannons. To give it an AP role instead of the AT role of the rulebook Vulture.

And perhabs i will change the name. What about Heaven(ly) Heavy Guard or Heaven(ly) Heavy Dragoons?

Thoughts?

A list is best if you pick one particular theme and stick with it, cutting out all that doesn't mesh.

So you want the theme to be 'heavy infantry' ?

In which case, why have the Valkyrie and Vulture? Do they fit the 'heavy infantry' theme?

I like the idea of introducing the Stormlord SHT, though it'll need to be a scratchbuild model (not impossible).

I actually kinda like the idea of a Guard army that isn't allowed aircraft or skimmers, only land vehicles and jump-jet infantry. It would also give the list a notable drawback, to compensate for the better stuff it gets.

A 5+ armour save on the jump-jet infantry is awesome, btw.

I actually forgot to add that i consider a 6+ save for the jump infantry. They eschew heavy cumbersome armour for more nimbleness.

And really? No aircrafts and skimmers? Introducing the Vendetta and a new weapon loadout for the Vulture would introduce some of the new toys found in the new Codex Imperial Guard. I also consider including the Banewolf and/or Devildog. Or the Leman Russ Punisher (yes i like gatling guns  :O ) or Eradicator instead of the Demolisher.
Well Skimmers aren't needed in this list but they aren't essential in the rulebook IG list either.

Makes sense.

But what about no save at all, like normal infantry.

Wouldn't the Elysian list be a better place for those units, rather than a 'heavy infantry' army list?

Those could work.

As could that.

No save would make them too fragile i fear. Or i could up the units number in the formation but then this doesn't seem so elite to me.

@Vendetta, etc: Elysians would fit perfectly but will Honda introduce them?

6+ is still fragile...

No idea, but this certainly isn't the list for them.
