So. Now Wh40k gets a new SHT kit. 6 variants are buildable with it!

So now we have:
Well known:
Baneblade (Baneblade Cannon)
Shadowsword (Volcano cannon)
Stormsword (Siege Cannon)
Stormblade (Plasma Blastgun)

Introduced via Apocalypse and Apocalypse Reload:
Hellhammer (Hellhammer Cannon = Big Demolishergun)
Stormlord (Vulcan Mega-bolter and transport capacity)

New:
Banehammer (looks like Stormsword with forward posed cabine)
Doomhammer ("mighty shell-spitter")

Sadly never mentioned again:
Stormhammer (two Twin Demolisher)

Oh my

I wonder what "vaiant" means... a new race, perhaps?

Looks cool though.  And I'd wager the budget to make *just* that tank kit was equal to, or greater than, the budget for all of Specialist Games...

Despite my determination not to make any more tanks, and despite the fact that it's pig-ugly, I'm deeply tempted to build a Stormlord for Epic. It's just what my Steel Legion needs!

So the Banehammer willl habe a Tremor Cannon which forces a difficult terrain test on the target unit.
The Doomhammer will have a Magma Cannon which is a Mega Meltagun.

So some form of disrupt weapon then.

Agreed.... darn kids lol. Whatever happened to the days of a 'main gun' and negligible defense weapons (ie. hatch mounted stormbolter or heavy stubber)?

It works that way in 40k now, with only Str 4 weapons being able to fire on the move in addition to the main gun.

Superheavies however are excempt from these restrictions and can fire everything, and at multiple targets to boot.

Must say I am a little old school (even the old super heavies had too many guns --- where do they keep all the ammo).

Give me a solid tank with big gun, then a few bolters that would be used anti-personnel / close defence. Just don't go with the gun here there and everywhere - it just would not be practicable.

Cool tanks and variants though (I can see a trip to the bank manager commin on).

Umm do you mean like the Vickers independant A1E1, or the Soviet T-35, both with no less than 5 turrets, and the T-35 having the following weapons:-

    Main armament - 76.2mm gun model 27/32
    Secondary armament - 2x 45mm guns
    Close defence - 5-6x 7.62 machine guns

And a crew of 11  :p

LOL  :))

Yeah, but neither of these tank types worked well if they worked at all... perhaps history repeating itself.

I love the idea of variant weapon superheavy tanks in principle but the new looks for the variants are a bit... ugly, don't you think?

Frankly, yes, but when you're starting with the plastic Baneblade kit, you can only do so much to put lipstick on that pig.

I wouldn't say they look ugly, but I'd say that with exception of Shadowsword and the Stormlord (which is ugly no matter what) the rest just look all the same. More unique and awesome looking Stormblade and Stormhammer have been passed over in favor of a bunch of identically looking machines they just made up on the spot.

For what its worth, the T-35 saw service early in WWII. according to the blurb some 200 were built with modifications being added to virtually every one to overcome some of the "teething problems". Apparently they were not successfull against the German tanks of the period (probably a masterfull understatement :p ).
