Greetings Warriors of Cadia! The "Black Crusade" supplement I've been working on has been languishing too long! The art being posted for it has inspired me to start moving forward again. In the next couple of days I'll be posting an updated Cadian Defence Force list that will be one of the armies included in the "Black Crusade"; I'm looking for people who are interested in playtesting the *hell* out of it, against all comers... though, preferably against other "official" armies. Theoryhammering will be examined as well, but I'd prefer information from the crucible of battle if at all possible. Sign up here and let fight! For the Emperor! For Cadia! |

Okay, might be possible. Now, what is the status of the Cadian lists? How many are there? I know my personal prediliction is (of course) the Inquisitorial connection. You never replied to my email by the way ![]() I'm looking for a home to put the guard-heavy Inquisition into ever since I took guard allies out of the list, and personally I think Cadia is perfect and it lets you pit Grey Knights against Chaos without a full Inquistiorial Task Force in the supplement. Honestly, I don't think Cadia needs two whole lists in the supplement (twice the playtesting needed ![]() ![]() |

I have a Cadian army that I'd be happy to play. However I still believe that there should only be one Cadian army list included. Just because the war for Cadia featured several different styles of army doesn't mean all styles should be represented; The War for Armageddon featured many many styles of army but only the mechanised style was featured... ...so yeah, only one Cadian army list please. |

Colin and I have played a few games where he has used Cadians. Apart from games where we are playtesting AMTL/Minervans we will probably do a few more soon. ![]() Cheers James |

I too think having more than one cadian army in a single suppliment is just overkill. |

The projected armies to be in the supplement are Black Legion, Lost and the Damned, Ulthwé Craftworld Eldar, and Cadians, with the possibility of an Inquisitorial (Daemonhunters) Contingent. And this thread is a call to test the "Cadian Defense" list. |

Chroma, would the two Cadian lists simply be two org sheets or would they each have unique units that are mutually exclusive of each other? My initial suggestion is that you just bear in mind the Scenario section of the supplement where you can put any type of scenario and army composition together. If you have an inkling to have a Cadian force that is composed differently from a typical Cadian force, then the Scenario section is a good alternative. As an example, Raiders contains scenarios where Dark Eldar are garrisoned and Necrons have the majority of their forces already on the board. Now those might make great jump-points for new list ideas but I am not convinced of it. I'm not opposed to two Cadian lists but I share the general feeling that getting playtesting for one of the lists will be difficult enough (look at the fallout over the lack of Minervan playtesting and you'll understand where I am coming from). Inquisition sounds like it would be fun to put into the supplement as well, although now you are looking at FIVE armies. That is a lot of work and the Army Champs are going to have to do a LOT of work to do their own playtesting/batrep writing as well as motivating others to do the same. Might I suggest you work out a contest where you give away one free book (or other such goodies like some resin walls or Monoliths or such) for the person who posts the largest number of photographed batreps. Y'all can bounce around the details but it may make for some incentive. It would also mean there would be more pictures to choose from to scatter around the supplement when the time comes. |

One of the lists is a "Cadian Defense", so an "elite static infantry" force while the other is Cadians on the offensive, cleaning up mutant scum; they're to show that Cadians fight in, at least, two radically different ways, using, for the most part, the same units. |

I, too, think that we could probably make a single Cadian list between us that has the potential to be built into the various different fighting styles of cadia. That said, if we are going for two lists, what we would have is a cadian list and a kasrkin/inquisition list, which are likely to be very different. Bear in mind that we are NOT talking about a full Ordo Malleus Strike Force being in the supplement (so no pure-Grey-Knight armies). We're talking about a list that allows you to mix a few Inquisitorial units with guard (see the link in my first post). [edit, which doesn't seem to work. Try the direct link to the list.] |

I'm with Lord I here. Two cadian lists is just too much, though a combined cadian/inquisitorial list might be reasonable as a second one. I think a single Cadian list can be built that covers enough of the playstyles. I just can't see enough playtesting getting done to balance two cadian lists, bearing in mind that both are basically starting from scratch since there has been little to no playtesting of cadian lists so far. Of the two lists, one is bound to be favoured by playtesters and the other will be left with little love. Of the 3 Raiders lists, the Necrons had a lot of playtesting, the Dark Eldar had a decent amount of playtesting and the Minervans got very little playtesting. Do you really think you'll be able to get enough playtests to balance 3 or 4 new lists on top of the alrady well-tested chaos? |

Black Legion, Lost and the Damned, and Ulthwé lists have seen extensive playtesting as they were developed.  The current tweaks/changes in the two Chaos lists are things I'll have to discuss with the respective Army Champions and I'm already implementing the necessary changes in Ulthwé. That leaves *only* the Cadian list/lists to be tested... so, yeah, two lists should be fairly easy to test.  *laugh* Especially considering there's no deadline. |
