Post subject:  Core IG Month regiment - Catachan/Ork hunters/Deat

This is for an infantry based Catachan/Ork hunters/Death world (any or all!) list to fill the 'infantry void' currently for Guard in Epic.

I would ask all interested parties to finish discussion and list consolidation by the end of the week and get lots of games in by the end of the month!

Lists to follow.

Note this could have several varients however would be good to go with one for now. I would suggest Catachans or Ork hunters.

What do you mean by "infantry void"?

And army that *can't* take transports or tanks?  One with only foot-sloggers as companies?

Please explain.

There's no real infantry orientated IG force in Epic. Even the siege list is more about artillery guns.

It can have armour and everything else, but at the end of the day when you set up it should have a solid core of non mounted infantry.

Just spitballing... The problem with IG infantry is that they have no save. This means that if they ever end up in the open, they die. In droves. The Sieger list includes purchasable cover. A variation could be purchasable or free extra woods or jungles, which could be placed everywhere, perhaps by the opponent as well.

Orks die in droves too. Their meager 6+ saves doesn't help much. What helps are big formations. So 13 units per formation (Command unit and 12 Infantry units) are a must. Then you can bulge the formation up with upgrades. Allow other units than listed in the rulebook army list.
A foot-based infantry formation surely should have acsess to Sentinels as upgrade.
Add tanks which are known for that they are used to support infantry (Thunderer comes to mind).
Perhabs allow more than three upgrades per formation.
