I took Deathstrikes out of the list ages back because their mobile nature didn't fit well with Krieg's static trench warfare.

Anyways, now that the Trenchworks are in there, a PM conversation with TRC put me in mind of something that could be good for the Krieg.

DEATHSTRIKE SILO - 0-1, 300 Points for two.
Type : War Engine
Speed : 0cm
Armour : 4+
Close Combat : 6+
Firefight : 4+

Weapons: Deathstrike Missile (Standard stats)

Notes: Reinforced Armour. Damage Capacity 2.

Fluff:

Many, perhaps even the majority of Imperial Guard Regiments, make use of a variety of highly destructive bombardment missiles which are known collectively as ?Deathstrikes?.

Most regiments that make use of these potent weapons place them on mobile launch platforms, so as to hide the Deathstrikes amongst the confusion of a maneuvering army.

The Death Korps method of warfare is more static though, so they choose to protect their stock of  Deathstrikes in heavily armoured bunkers.

There may also be a second, more subtle reason that the Death Korps habitually build Deathstrike silos rather than utilising mobile launchers. During long campaigns the lower levels of each silo is slowly converted into a shrine to the Emperor, in praise and remembrance of the Atomic Purging that saved their planet from Chaos.

GO!

Paying an extra 50 points each to armour up and make immobile doesn't seem too good a deal to me.

How about a bunker that fires multiple deathstrikes over the course of a game:

DEATHSTRIKE SILO - 0-1, 250 Points
Type : War Engine
Speed : 0cm
Armour : 4+
Close Combat : N/A
Firefight : 4+

Weapons: Deathstrike Missile
                MW 2+ TK(d6)
                Infinite range, Indirect, Slow Firing

Notes: Reinforced Armour. Damage Capacity 2

Or up the price and lose Slow Firing.

I like the idea... but make it a single silo... it can fire up to two missiles.  I doubt anyone ever moved their Deathstrikes in game with the Steel Legion anyway.

Original stats would be cool. And this would allow dropping the Shadowsword, so it's even better in my end. And to finish the score you have figs for this. The objective marker (or FW missile silo if you prefer) would do the job nicely :).

The Shadowsword's not going.

But this bunker is going in I reckon, in some manner.

It's a Silo / Bunker with lots of (small arms) sticking out of gun ports.

It's also move 0.... Fearless?

I'm not one for the idea.  Shooting over an inter-continental missile to strike a target inside an EA playing area doesn't seem overly practical...

Manticore silos maybe.

Remember that, by all rights, *all* artillery in the game shouldn't really be on the tabletop.

It should be about a mile away (A real life mile). :D

Granted.  A lot of this stems from my opinion that the Deathstrike is rather silly though.  So I'm jaded, it's your list though so try it out if you like.

Another point that just came to me as well, what's to say enemy artillery would let the Kreigmen build a silo of Death Striking?  To me I'd see it as more of an objective than an actual unit.

Interesting.

What if you were allowed to replace your blitzkrieg goal with a Deathstrike Silo, in the same way as Eldar Warpgates or Necron Tomb Complexes?

Actually I'd like to change my vote to no. Krieg are attacking force. Defensive might use silos, not attacking. I don't really see an attacking troop stopping and building a missile silo before going forwards :D.

You underestimate just how slowly they move forwards. :D

The British in WWI were an attacking-style Siege force... and it took them years to get anything done.
