Why did you make it slower than a normal Chimera, when you think a Laser Destroyer Leman Russ should be faster than a normal Leman Russ?

Because a LR loses a turret and all the equipment and mountings that come with that whereas the chimera loses inf and gain a huge weapon system taking up most of the hull?  ie LR loses net mass, chimera gains?

Even so, I don't see a Leman Russ-mounted Laser Destroyer shifting as quick as a Chimera-mounted one, but then again I've always disagreed with Chris' 25cm speed proposal for the Russ Destroyer... I can't see any tanker wanting to move that vehicle fast over uneven ground, for fear that he'd stick the over-long barrel into the dirt!

According to Imperial Armour:
Off-Road Speed
Leman Russ: 21 km/h
Demolisher 17 km/h
Chimera 55 km/h
Destroyer 36 km/h
Thunderer 22 km/h

So

Chimera Defender (Armageddon pattern)
Type                  Speed Armour Close Combat Firefight
Armoured Vehicle  30cm       5+             6+               6+
Weapon          Range Firepower      Notes
Laser Destroyer  75cm   AT4+        Titan-Killer (1)

Oh really? :)

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/M18_Hellcat

Tank destroyers go hell for leather due to lower armour and enemy tanks being out to get them.

The LR TD is also more than 50% faster than a Leman Russ according to FW. Furhter 30kph is not unreasonable cross country. And TD concepts are shoot and scoot - a lot more time moving than conventional tanks with firing over a shorter period of time.

Chimera wise I would have thought the loss of power was due to the gun needing more from its generators.

Wondering how to make an Armageddon pattern one personally.

I would prefer something like this

Reckon thats doable from a salamander maybe.

Anyone got any ideas how the damn thing could look and how to build it?

Another idea is a FW arty chimera hull with a built up compartment and rear facing gun.

On an entirely unrelated note, I'd love an Epic one of these :) Ontos

CHris- that first one's an Archer isnt it?  I was going to mention that would be a really cool version for armageddon and would support a fast speed.  Could be easy to build on a FW salamander chassis

Ive also made an epic chimera conversion that looks quite similar to a Marder- ill post that up if you like

That would be great! And yes its an Archer - the famous rear facing gun for a quick gettaway! The second is teh Marder 2. I personally prefer teh look of the stug but don't know what to use as a base.

That Ontos is an interesting beast, 6 recoiless rifles topping off an atrocious design (too high, has to be reloaded externally etc) - so bad it should be in the Imperial Guard!

For the Defender i would go for:

a) A turretless Chimera. Replacing the Heavy Bolter with the Laser Destroyer.

b) A Salamander Scout/Command replacing the Heavy Flamer/Autocannon with the Tank Destroyer.

And because it is Armageddon Pattern it has to have an enclosed cabine.

Option a I tired and failed miserably with. Option b is open topped... The bassie may be a better choice for that.
