Why does that basilisk have such a huge searchlight on top?

the insignia on the turret is from my old future Rgt - Hammer's Slammers !

Haha cool!

This tank was painted by ForgeWorld's main rules / book writer, so now we know a little more about his influences. :D

Searchlights *are* that big. :D

HA !  Slammer-philes are eveywhere !  I sent the pic to Treadaway, the author of the H/S rules and a master modeller ...  He said it was a nice paint job !  Hammer's boys Rule ! :)   And yes, when searchlights were used on US MBTs ... they were very big ! Fortunately we don't use them any more ... But as I said, the 40K fluff is hi-tech WWII, IMO ! :;):

And I'll toss another idea for company.

Heavy Scout Company/ 1 Salamander Command Vehicle, 6 Salamander Scout Vehicles, 3 Griffons/ 300 points

Edit: or Fast Attack Company.

You could also do a fast attack of 3 Griffons, 3 Salamander Scouts, and 3 Lemun Russ Conquerors.  350 points.

It would be a tough formation, move at 30cm+, mixed scout/regular, and have the firepower output of
3BP at 30cm plus Indirect
6x AP5+ at 30cm
3x AP5+/AT6+ at 45cm
3x AP5+/AT5+ at 45cm
3x AT5+ at 45cm

Point cost would be affordable, but not so cheap so that you could buy a zillion of them.

Definitely worth thinking about.

What about having the scout formation consist of a mix of Salamanders and Conquerors - I do not get having the Griffons in there.  4 Salamanders and 6 Conquerors?  400 pts?

I was just brainstorming - The Griffons could go.  My only thoughts were that
1. They all have speeds of 30cm (or more) and would make excellent fast attack.
2. It would be great for rushing defensive positions with the Griffon's blast template weapons while the Russes would be good for absorbing hits with their reinforced armor.

So,

I think if you are actually going to call this a Tallarn list, you really have to include Rough Rider formation.  They are sort of central to the Tallarn fluff.  In fact, they are mentioned more in what I've read than Mech Infantry.

It might even be interesting to see them as a core formation rather than a support formation, but that may be going too far.

I thought to that Tallerns were light infantry chaps (normally to be found opposing the french foriegn legion in north africa?).
