Not tanks as upgrades? Would be nice to see some tank variants here. LR Executioner, Punisher or Exterminator perhabs?

Nope, I'm trying to concentrate on the "Shock Troops" element for their core theme, so all the upgrades are Infantry.

Furthermore, I can count on one hand the number of times I've seen the Tanks upgrade selected, like all of the AV upgrades (bar the Hydra) it's probably overpriced for what it gives you, IMO.

Are any of them iconically used by Cadian regiments?

No but GW tends to paint all their tanks in Cadian colours :D
The Codex only talks about Whiteshields and the high amount of Veterans in the Cadian army.

Quite; They're "famous" for their footslogging infantry companies, not for their use of tanks, so I think variant tanks can be left for lists where they'd be more appropriate.

I like it. I just have a few questions/comments about the Leviathan.

Have you compared the Leviathan to previous rules and the Leviathan variants in the Squat/Demiurg list? I can't recall specifics off the top of my head, but it looks a bit light in terms of toughness.

Is the Leviathan part of the HQ formation or separate? I ask because immobilizing it would obviously also pin the infantry in place (unless you wanted to kill the Leviathan for being out of formation).

If it's part of the formation, you need to decide whether you want it to follow the normal Transport rules or WE transport rules. If it uses WE transport, another formation could hop a ride on the Leviathan and then split off later. Given that the Leviathan is only 15cm move, that's probably not a problem in terms of tactical flexibility or other balance issues. It's just something to consider for whether it is the right feel and not too fiddly.

Nope, I drew from Chroma's stats mostly, although I changed its CC rating from 3+ to 6+, as it seemed odd.

Yep, and yes that'd be a possibility!

The same pinned-in-place thing can happen a lot with the Krieg and their Gorgons.

It would get a note ala Ork Transport WE's so that it can only carry units from its own formation.

I know there is a type of Necron pylon on Cadia but they're far from standard, there's no real way for the cadians to control what they do at the very least. In the Eisenhorn series and as far as I know it's theorised they keep the Eye of Terror at bay but have defied study.

Ben if you're looking for inspiration on Cadia/ians they feature in quite a bit of detail in one of the Eisenhorn books.

Cadian Sentinels are quite a lot better than the "regular" version, 125pts for 4? This would also add a second odd 25pt option.

They do lose scout though, so I figured +1 AS & +15cm range was probably an even trade for losing their most important role?

I wouldn't be greatly adverse to seeing them go up to 125pts though.

I would recommend removing the word "Company" from the regimental HQ to increase clarity as to when White Shields can be taken.

I agree.

Should the Ordinatus or Leviathan be fearless?

In the Mechanius army list, lack of fearless on the Ordinatii has been a balancing factor.

It also acts as a kind of "fluff" thing, whereby you can imagine a broken Titan (Fearless) making an orderly retreat whilst under fire, but a broken Ordinatus wouldn't be quite so capable of effecting a coordinated fall-back, and hence would suffer extra damage as it tried to slowly leave the area.

The Leviathan, well, I guess Chroma's original intent when he had it as a support formation was for a Commissar to go in it, and I'm not adverse to seeing it become Fearless by default.

Yep.

I'm not sure.

No, the Cadians can't control them, but I believe they make it very difficult/almost impossible to summon daemons, this has played quite a large part it helping the Cadians defend the planet from the forces of Chaos.

Sounds like a good thing for a Chaos-vs-Cadians scenario, but possibly hard to balance in a tournament setting?

*Off to look at the background on the Pylons now, to check if they tend to be fortified or the like*

I've not read teh Eisenhorn series, care to give a quick run-down of your impressions of the battlefield function of the Pylons?
