I think if they don't typically end up sitting around with nothing to do but shell they would be fine would indirect. If you can get tactics that allow them to be static after use then indirect might be to much.

I've been toying with an idea that lives or dies around using Gorgon-mounted infantry to Sustain Fire on turn 2 as an alternative to Engaging.

Which reminds me, big thanks to whoever (E&C?) wrote the DKoK list. It's wonderful in the fun department!

As with all the lists I write, the community has had a huge part in shaping it, so it's not just my work.

I'm glad you're having fun with it!

I was just looking at the Death Korps list, and I can't seem to find anything that limits the number of Regimental HQ Companies you can take. Have I just missed it, or can you really take as many supreme commanders as you like?

Great job on this, by the way. I was seriously considering doing a Death Korps army until the news about Forge World hit. Now I'll have to wait and see they keep enough stuff available for it to be feasible.

I like the WYSIWYG heavy bolters and don't think it has to cost more when it's such a small change (I'd prefer to update the superheavies in the Steel Legions list to be the proper FW stats too).

Good to see this is coming on

edited to add: always the 'world of otter forges' in a while if FW don't have them back AlexF.

It's meant to be 0-1 but that's somehow been deleted... it'll be fixed for the next version.

The war engine transport rules are nothing but trouble. Virtually no ground war engine actually follows them.

I don't know if that's true, but they were definitely written under the assumption that WE transports would be independent formations.  Attaching WE transport obviously mucks that up.

Just played a first game with the Kriegers. I fielded four Gorgons and quickly found that the things are ace! Very interesting to play and use.

Hena is writing the battle report.

IMO based on SM1 and RL ... once a transport drops off it's troops ... the carriers become a separate unit ...

And that's the thing! In E:A, the carriers belong to the infantry formation, which means that they get to act as hit-sinks in engagements. Their 4+RA armor means that a Gorgon-equipped infantry company will almost always win assaults, whether attacking or defending. This is very different from the Steel Legion, where the Chimera carriers only have 5+ save and no War Engine status.

Aye, I've always found Gorgons are Deathtraps outside of Engagements, but in an Engagement they are awesome, soaking up hits and allowing the infantry-based Krieg to act as an offensive, attacking force, exactly as their background describes them to be.

Maybe a bit late but why has the Light Support Battery only three ThuddGuns/HeavyMortas? On pages 98/99 in Vraks 1 you can see a Field Artillery Company. It has 3 Batteries and each Battery consists of 4 Quad-Launchers/HeavyMortars.

And why has the standard DeathKorps Inaftry a (ok half a) Heavy Stubber? Normally only the Platoon HQ has a heavy weapon. The only other heavy weapons are in the Company's Heavy Weapon Platoon.
A Death Korps Infantry Company can be seen in Vraks 1 page 100/101. There is a little box which sais:
"This is a theoretical organisation. The exact distribution of heavy weapon will vary. The heavy weapons platon does not fight as a single unit but is deployed as single squads or ad-hoc gtoups of squads as needed, often under the direct command of the company headquarters. The number of grenadier squads available to a company will vary."

In Epic terms the pages for the Infantry Company show:
1 Supreme Commander unit (has a heavy weapon)and 4 Grenadier units with 3 Centaurs.
10 Platoons. Each with a Commander unit (has a heavy weapon)and 12 Infantry units.
1 Heavy Weapon Platoon with Commander (has a heavy weapon) and 9 Heavy Weapon units (each with three heavy weapons)

Well that makes sense in that the Gorgon can add it's firepower to the fight. Small Arms fire would also bounce of the hull ... However, any sort of AT weapons would probably KO a Gorgon ...  :D
