Ok. Paying points for a Spacecraft which has one wot two one shot weapons once a game and thenisnever tobe seen again and the opponent cannothing do against this (exept field a Spacecraft of his own) is ok.
But a flying Supreme Commander who actually can be shot down is not ok?

The Marauder Vigilant is supposed to be a high altitude recon aircraft, not a low level bomber like the standard Marauder.

Plus, as I've outlined, I don't think it'd actually give anything interesting to the gameplay experience if it were a flying SC.

But an invicible (but delayable) one-shot artillery attack is?

I'm still not convinced it needs Epic stats at all. It's an AWACS for coordinating airborne warfare, AFAIK, and probably belongs in Aeronautica much more.

We could either put spacecraft in (Perhaps with a points drop), or go with making up new Marauder Vigilant stats. Would the BP attacks be pre-plotted before the game like with a spacecraft?

I want to say plotted after flyover, maybe bombardment the following turn? Just the fact that it's a recon craft says it should have a better chance of hitting the right area than a spacecraft (they have afterall just flown over and taken pictures/radar scans etc...)

Tangentally, Marauder Colossus stats would probably be a one-shot ignores cover 3BP attack that uses the spacecraft template, IMO.

Like the spacecraft template, maybe add MW into the mix? not sure though. Would this run as a spacecraft as well or traditional aircraft (I can see both cases).

Let it add SC for the flyover turn aswell?
As a standard SC aircraft it's either too easy to keep safe or needs additional special rules outlining how it works.

I really don't like the idea of making a Aircraft into a Spacecraft rules wise. Might just be better to leave that one out eh?

i struggle to justify a spaceship unless i'm going full drop (and then, where's the fun?) so no, its not that one is fine and the other is rubbish, they're both pretty much rubbish. pinpoint attacks are nice sometimes though.

and sabres have been put into my Bloody Hand list, so far they've been OK, but have not been rigourously put through their paces (they're fairly high on my "to be playtested" list ATM) i reckon they're probably a ways underpowered compared to a hydra battery...
currently they're 5 for 150 as a support formation, not available as an upgrade option
Sabre Platform Inf 10cm - - 6 Twin Flak Cannon 30cm AP5+/AA5+

Hmm...ok after reading it rules again i agree.
Quote:
The Marauder Vigilant is not a combat aircraft but supports other aircraft. It contains surveillance and detection systems and advanced communucation and control systems. Whilst a Vigilant is on the table, the Imperial Navy plaxer may re-roll any failed Reserve rolls. The Imperial player may also re-roll his Initiative dice roll.
In a Target Recon scenario, a Vigilant only needs to spend six turns on the table to gain the bonus 50 victory points.

No i see it as a Supreme Commander for aircraft formations only :)

Seems a highly convoluted and special-rules-heavy way to get the unit into the list.

As has been mentioned, I'm really not sure it fits in epic. It is more likely to be the way they found out about the enemy in the first place rather than an active battlefield participant.

It seems that Leviathan is compulsory if I want to field a SC, any chances of avoiding this?? (or you can just show me how to scratchbuild one ;D ).

They come up for sale pretty regularly on eBay.

I've updated the file on page 1 with the following changes based on discussion here:

- Added 1 commissar per 500pts note.
- Added Demolisher Russ support formation.
- Added Sabre platforms for AA.
- Added Fixed Forward to the Ordinatus' main gun.

Still under debate:

What to do for a Spacecraft type of unit?
Possible choices:
- Use Steel Legion Spacecraft (Possibly with a points drop on one or both to make them more viable?)?
- Use the Marauder Vigilant as some kind of pre-plotted barrage?
- Use the Marauder Colossus as a standard bomber type unit, but with a one-shot big bomb using the spacecraft template?
- Don't have any spacecraft at all?

I'm not too keen on the pie-plate template for an aircraft, but if one wanted to lean that way, this could be an off-the-wall way:
Use a cruiser carrier - according to the fluff (the stuff I've read anyway; I could be wrong), IN bombers for space combat are the size of airliners, justifying a big template. in BFG, the dictator has weapons batteries and launch bays for small craft.
Spacecraft: Dictator Cruiser, init. 2+ and
Starhawk Bomber "Carpet bombing" attack: 4BP MW
Perhaps 150pts, same as a lunar. You could drop the price a bit (125? 100?) or add something special like 'disrupt' if it's too pricey. It'd be pre-plotted (think B-52 raid)
