I think there needs to be a "Use" before that sentence.

Remember a Steel Legion Russ Company is 650, with a free Vanquisher upgrade. A Minervan standard Russ company is 625, with the option to trade up to 2 for Vanqs for a net +25pts ea. (+45 instead of +20)

Raiders v1 had Tank companies at 625, and -20pt for Thunderers or +25pt for Vanqs, but it works out the same.

Oh, and Titan stats are not in the Imperial Guard or Space Marine lists because....? I assume that one needs to have a AMTL army list handy to play with Titans in a different faction.

I, for one, would like to not have to have three different lists to refer to when I play one faction. An army list should be self-suficient and not have to rely on other army lists to be complete. But, that's just me.

Neither are the IN stats. Remember the goal is a book, so you just have to flip to the right page. EA doesn't have the Titans and IN mixed in with the IG or Space Marines, either. The difference is that each chapter is a different pdf right now, so you need to download more than one file.

Just been having a look through this to try and get a couple of army lists together noticed a couple of things.

The Steel legion is obviously part of the compendium but a couple of units have different stats to the BRB, main one being the baneblade, whilst I'd be happier using the latest up-gunned version I was wondering if this was the intention of the compendium?

On that note I think it's a little bit odd that the Baneblade got such a boost and the shadowsword hasn't had a similar nod to the newer models, such as changing the H-Bolters to twin H-Bolters. Don't get me wrong I'm not at all implying the shadowsword needs a boost, I just found it odd.

Comparing the unit stats to the online BRB I noticed that the guard snipers have also had the Sniper ability moved to the weapon rather than as a unit ability. There's no such restriction for rangers in swordwind and the SM scout upgrade doesn't mention it only affecting shooting attacks. The rule itself doesn't describe itself as applying only to shooting. I don't want to rock the boat and realise its to prevent sniping in CC which would be bizarre but isn't this more a problem with the rule itself rather than guard snipers specifically?

For the Baneblade, it's always been the least desirable of the SHTs in my opinion. I'd never take the original version in a Steel Legion List, but my Minervans often field Companies of them with great success. They suffer from being the jack-of-all-trades SHT; there are better options for just about every task they do, but none that can do all the tasks they can.

However, Epic is a game that favors specialization over all rounders, as GT list composition is 'free range'. In campaigns, where you can't guarantee that your specialists will be where you want them, all rounders would have more utility.

The Krieg list upgrades Shadowswords with twin heavy bolters, so there should really be two versions in the compendium. I prefer WYSIWYG personally and would be completely happy using/playing against twin heavy bolter versions in any list.

Is there a standard imperial guard army list? Much like the codex space marines? Where you get a basic outfit of troops to choose from not a special named army list?

Question for the steel legion army list: company upgrades stick with the formation right? For instance i get an Infantry company and upgrade it with 2 ogryns for +50, so those ogryns have to stay with it.

What i'm curious about is the support formations, if i buy the rough rider formation for +150 which is six base's that is an independent formation and can move about on its own and has its own activation roll?
