My critique of Chroma's Cadian lists:

- Psykers should not be random... please don't make the Commissars mistake a second time! 1 per 1000pts would be fine.

- The 7-strong Leman Russ companies (With a Vanquisher) are too cheap at 450pts.

- On a more general note, Cadians aren't renowned for being fully mechanised in the same manner as the Steel Legion ; I think you should drop the mechanised list (Which doesn't really add much new to the game other than being a Steel Legion-alike list with Conscripts) and concentrate only on the Defense Force list, which is quite unique, and is more representative of the Cadian way of war IMHO.

- Add the two missing SHT's to the list.

I see the "higher" save as representing the Vets being able to make maximum use of cover, even when out in the "open".

Yes that's what I was aiming for, and why it's only a 6+ save.

As to the Jungle Fighters special rule I did indeed take from your idea Chris, you posted it on my last Catachan thread. My original idea was to allow Jungle Fighters to re-roll failed Jungle, Wood, and Marsh cover saves on a 1 only. I didn't think people would like that though as it adds a new mechanic to the game.

As to the list, I am defintely aiming for an air-cav list on the planet of Veridian where they fought against Hive Fleet Kraken. I just haven't come up with a good name yet :p. I wasn't intending them to be your average Catachans.

Your Deathworld Vets have a close combat one-shot weapon ; I'm not sure if I want to be tracking one-shot weapons on infantry units.

I like the 'Jungle Fighters' special rule.

Well I didn't want to give them unlimited MW, as they're one use in 40k as well.

Why not call it the "Catachan XXth Air Cavalry Army List"... simple!  *laugh*

There's no reason that there can't be multiple Catachan list to represent them in different warzones, just as long as their units are the same, the organization of the army list can be changed.

You'll need to add something like my "Air Cavalry" rule to allow all the new units to ride in Valkyries, or add them to the transport options in the datafax.

Any way I can convince you to change you Catachan Devils to my "booby trap" using version, Dave?

*laugh*  If *anything* should be random, it should be the number of Psykers available!  As it is, they can only be added to Company Commander units, and provide a *lot* less than a Commissar does.

"Upgrade to 1 Vanquisher +25 points", perhaps?

Well, I see the 'Shock Troop' aspect as being a "blitzkrieg" force, so they'd have to be relatively quick/mech.  Not much "shock" in just walking towards your enemy... unless you're a Space Marine!  *laugh*

Additionally, I like showing that the same units/army can be presented in different ways.

Would you accept it as a Mech Inf list if it had a different regiment's name on it?

- Add the two missing SHT's to the list.
Which two?  Stormblades and...?

Thanks for your input!

Please no.

There's fluff 'random', and there's the genuine desire to have a WYSIWYG force that doesn't mean you have to have up to 5 spare command bases painted up depending on your D6 roll.

Such randomness is simply unfair!

"Upgrade to 1 Vanquisher +25 points", perhaps?

We've found the 6 Russ for 400pts balanced previously, with +25 to upgrade one to being a Vanquisher. 450 for 7 Russ which already includes a Vanquisher looks underpriced.

Would you accept it as a Mech Inf list if it had a different regiment's name on it?

Yep that'd be fine!

Cadians simply don't have enough Chimeras to operate such an army ; They're shock troops, not shock mechanised infantry. :)

Note that in 40k, they don't have the 'Mechanised' doctrine.

Stormswords.

The Vulture and Valkyrie are actually different patterns as well (they model the FW models and were the stats the Heavens to Betsy suggested on the SG forums). If the list sees any playtesting I'll add data sheets for them in the full army list with their transport listed there.

Your Catachan Devil's are pretty close to mine.  My save is less though but the FF is greater (they have 3 special weapons in 40k after all). I think the CC attack would be better for the first strike "ambush" though, and the Booby Traps I handled through the Devil's Garden.  That will have to have a note on it though to allow other SC to enter play on the same turn.

Okay, all the lists can wander off to seperate threads now :) The idea was to get a rool call to see who was active. So all discussion can head off to dedicated threads!

The Organisation-List was only to show how the Imperial Guard organises its Companies. Surely following this exactly is to much micro-management :D So any Epic-Armylist should set the Companies/Platoons with a fixed number of units and types :)
