Why not set some of those three unit formations to four unit formation?  Ups the cost a bit to reduce popcorn, diffentiates more from Barans, etc.

I'd go along with upping formation sizes to try to limit the popcorn list and making the 2 lists different.

Hmm why only 10 units per Platoo...err Company? It should be at least 11 units:
1 Company Command Section (1 unit)
1 Platoon Command Squad (1 unit)+ 2 Squads (2 unit sper Squad)
1 Platoon Command Squad (1 unit)+ 2 Squads (2 unit sper Squad)
= 11 units.

The Steel Legion adds another Squad to one of the Platoons to reach the 13 units listed in their armylist.
That is if it is really a very weak Company and not a more pompous named Platoon
For a Platoon that whould be:
1 Platoon Command Squad (1 unit)
6 Squads (12 units)

and for the Mossinians/Baran:
1 Platoon Command Squad (1 unit)
4 1/2 Squads (9 units)

Ok its a PDF so you could say that their armies organisation differs from the standard the Imperial Guard uses

I have found this kind of list to be one of the more powerful builds, however the light tanks loosing scout makes it
far less effective.

If the light tanks lose scouts, shouldn't they become cheaper as well?

They would need to gain points cost from elsewhere (better armament/armour or more numbers) other wise it adds to the popcorn problem.

How about a bigger formation?

Or just don't remove scouts... that removal just seems like a "band-aid" attempt at a solution, as the Siegfreids are *supposed* to be a scout tank.

If the scout tanks are too good, why not just increase their points cost?

I'm still interested in reading/seeing some details from Rug's playtests, feedback from the other players, etc.  The devil is in the details.

Why rename the Ringleaders to be called Preachers? I dislike this change! So many of the frothing armies in W40k have religious nutters of one kind or another with them, but that's not what the background tells us that the democratic rebellion of Mossino is about, democracy and elections and an explicitly rational rebellion are a big part of their background and motivation (which I really like the novelty of seeing in W40k background!) and calling the game unit Ringleaders fitted with this better than Preachers - yes preaching does not always have to religious preaching, but it is the obvious connotation that people tend to think of - as shown by the people in this thread gone from calling them Preachers to Priests and the like.

Ringleaders was much more appropriate, or else something along those sorts of lines - Party Representatives, Delegates, Electioneers, Spokesmen, Ballotsmen, etc. Having them inspiring and leaders but not fearless sounds more appropriate backgroundwise and makes the list more distinctive from the Siegers, not sure on list balance-wise.

If the list is proving as contentious as it sounds then, as much as I would like to see it in print, I really think delaying publication a while longer till things are more thoroughly balanced, tried out and tested would be the best idea.

The background didn't make complete sense before.

There was a rebellion for all the right reasons (Democracy, ultimately loyalty, etc), and somehow a bunch of gangsters take all the best weapons for themselves?

Why were the Gangsters inspiring to the men? Why were they 'leaders'?

I think I even used the word 'ruffians' in describing them!

In order to make the character more fitting to the Mossinian background, they're now a bit more fitting (If a bit more cliche'd too).

I'm going to take away Fearless for 1.13 and see how it goes, if the reports say that the list is still functioning okay, we may still go to print sooner rather than later, if the balance is hurt there'll be a delay.

Again, I don't think it's *balance* that's the problem (other than the original balance problems with Barans), it's that the list is, in its most recent states, just "Siegemasters Redux"...

It was never meant to be too different from the Siegemasters, just a variant defensive siege army, which was more balanced.
