One thing I've been thinking about is adding a Fire Support Squad to a Kasrkin Company and parking it in the fighting platform of a single Stormlord, leaving the rest of the infantry on foot. Similar techniques are possible with the Leviathan. Currently Sabres can be transported as well. I'll probably change that in the next version, as it is rather unintended and removes the primary drawback of the unit.

I quite like the idea of transporting Sabres on top of Stormlords... it sounds cool, albeit really expensive points-wise to do.

On that note, aren't sabre platforms meant to be part of trench lines and somewhat immobile...

(I don't know any of the fluff for them, just what's shown on the FW site :) )

Since the stormlord is open topped, it would be quite amusing seeing the sabre on AA duty ;)

They're immobile in 40k terms, yeah, but on the scale of Epic they're probably transportable by their crews carrying them?

Just seems a lot of bulk for guys on foot...

IIRC heavy mortars and Quad Launchers are immobile in 40k too.

Although they do have wheels.

A single (40k) Sabre won't fit in the back of a (40k) Stormlord. I just checked. I like the idea, but it's not physically possible. Of course, neither is fitting 20 guys back there, so take what you will from that.

You could solve it by saying you can firefight from the fighting platform, but not shoot.

Sabre AA on the Stormlord was unintended, yes. Is it undesirable? Should Sabres, which have Mounted, be transportable in Stormlords at all? I've read the back of a Humvee is actually a surprisingly stable firing platform for sniper work, so I'm not sure shooting is unjustified.

The AA suggestion started as a kind of joke... though I do quite like the thought of it ^_^

I'm not sure it would work quite so well for sabres however as there probably isn't enough room to set them up & have them traverse on their mount properly. However shooting out from the Slord (FF) i'm sure would happen, especially with the heavy stubbers that are mounted there!.

It'd one brave fool that sits atop the megabolter mount to snipe though! Awesome but utter madness :D

That's fine. I'd pretty much pegged them [Special weapons Squads] for removal in the next version at this point.

My original stats for the Stormlord fudged to 10 stands to deal with this problem, but there was some worry of stepping on the Gorgon's toes, so to speak. If there are no objections by anyone, upping it to 9 is fine with me in v1.1. At that point adding the sponsons and increasing the cost to +200, with option for only one would be my favored route. That way it could be taken as a transport for a 'plain' Kasrkin Company without walkers, or upgrades could be added if wanted, and some stands would walk.

What part of the Sentinels did you like, Rug?

Honestly, the 8 stands is pushing it from what the stormlord could realistically carry, as is the 40 models in 40k. Upping doesn't seem a great plan to me, especially as it could be used in other lists. Why not drop a kasrkin unit from the formation instead, making it 7 plus a commander?

Another option. That would result in a 225 point formation +200 for the 'lord.
