Keep on with the Batreps please.

IMHO the list is already considerably more balanced than the Siegemasters (You could popcorn 30+ formations in 4kpts of Siegemasters in an unbeatable combination no doubt), and it can only get better with more work.

The character also grants leader for clearing Blast markers... another perk, heck this was even more important than the inspiring!

Something I'm definitely keeping an eye on ; Fearless was definitely the weakest of the special abilities that the Preachers had, and 1 per 300 may have been a step too far in compensation.

+3 for inspiring.... They're still ff, cc and armour 6!

Yeah, but there's 9 infantrymen in cover/trenches screening them before you can even get to the inspiring guys.

Intermingling the weak arty with the weak infantry doesn't strike me as a great plan even with 3 inspiring, I'll test that.

It's a deterent, not an unassailable position.  *laugh*

Assuming your garrisoned all the immobile arty will die automatically if you loose an engage, and infantry in trnches with immobile guns is quite vulnerable to clipping.

Why would you garrison arty?  It can reach across the whole board with ease... I put arty deep in my backfield, often "guarding" the Blitz.

Well, here's another "EPIC: Siege" battle report:

4000 points, Eldar vs Mossinians

A lot of people think the Siegemasters would be better off with a more expensive Infantry co as this would solve the popcorn problems - something the TRC/NetERC changes do little to address.

First I have yet to read were E&C has got to with changes, buuuttt on this - it don't work.
You can get at 3000 points if you want to go really mad get I think from memory 16 activations. But there is no game, the enemy simply wades through them and you in turn try to contest as many objectives as possible to draw, but while you normally lose the BTS you lose overall. Likewise the Infantry/Artillery popcorn. Infantry with no saves supported by LV's with no saves. I think around 18 activations (6 infantry 12 artillery). Here if the enemy can deal with artillery it can deal with you. Some armies are trounced by it and others gobble it for breakfast making it an impractical tournament army, where the idea is to win overall, not get crushing defeats and overwealming victories, as that just means the lucky dice man wins.
The closest I have seen this done in a tourney is Tims L&D infantry horde. Just took as many infantry as possible. My Orks weren't too worried and I think he lost two other games as well.

Siegemasters *are* unbalanced in any competitive setting and Mossinians just build on that, paying a little lip service to balance, while maintaining most of the same issues Siegemasters have.

There are no hard choices in the Mossinian list... everything is good *and* cheap; it's *brilliant* at popcorn.

Example: if Thudd Guns are always the superiour choice to the other support weapons... they should cost more!  100 points instead of 75 as a simple change that makes a big difference.

Nope, they aren't now (siegemasters). In fact a few players think the changes are too much. Bear in mind under the old rules they were losing games to good opponents and many after narrow defeats saw what they should have done to win.

On thudd guns - yes they are superior to rapiers if you have other sources of AT fire. It works int eh siege list though any other list would have to look at the synergies.
