@Chroma: Why are Deathworld Veterans Mounted? Whats the benefit? Mounted only has drawbacks. And shouldn't the Sentinels Heavy Flamer have AP4+?

Updated version of my Imperial Guard Organisation.
Now Tank and Artillery Companies can have Commissars and it is now defined how many Command Platoons you can have.

Your Deathworld Vets have a close combat one-shot weapon ; I'm not sure if I want to be tracking one-shot weapons on infantry units.

I like the 'Jungle Fighters' special rule.

BL - that list is almost Epic40k!

For reference - Epic works best with formations that show how they fight. The decision to drop commands from arty for instance was good because it meant an arty company is just what you expect and the 'admin' was stripped out (and what in game use would there have been for the command vehicle other than annoyance?).

Orks have a highly pickable system but note they have only a handful of types and are highly generic.

Certainly an intersting list. Not exactly deathworld/catachans/historical jungle troops. More like air cav in Vietnam.

The Save is also far to high, really these guys should have no save.

Jungle vets - wow did you find my old rule from the old Epic Forum or come up with it independantly?

I found instead of infantry saves it was better to have a special rule allowing the player to put an extra piece of terrain on the table in every 4x1 (or was it 3x2?) section (and to add enough to make it a proper tourni minimum of 12 on a 6x4). Made it a very different challenge for the opponent (with 16 instead of 12 pieces on the table!)! And of course ensured the presence of jungle :)

For fun/home games that would be cool... but in a Tournament where tables are probably already pre-set or themed I don't think it would work.

I see the "higher" save as representing the Vets being able to make maximum use of cover, even when out in the "open".

We tried it with random club terrain and it was fine. Note you don't disturb pre set scenaria, just add to it.

Problem with saves is that it obviously can't be negated with ignore cover weapons.

So jungles sprouting up on a Forge World is okay?   :D

Well, is a 6+ save *that* unbalancing?  They're just *that good* at finding cover!  *laugh*

It is if Jugle Fighters would only be deployed to theatres with jungle in them.

I see the Catachan list as representing a "Deathworlder" army, not just a "jungle fighters" army...

There are many Deathworld regiments, but they could come from swamp deathworlds, or forested deathworlds, or even toxic ruins deathworlds, so the list should, while being "Catachan", allow for a wider range of appearances, in my opinion, than just "Ramboes".

You could even have a special rule like "Deathworld Terrain - Chose one Terrain type, units in the army treat one step "easier" than normal" or something like that.

That's not really inline with E:A's design philosophy.

In E:A, an army is a very specific army.

So if you have a toxic ruins deathworld army, you have a specific army list for them (Actually that's the Death Korps of Krieg!).

So Catachans are Catachans (And okay, may also represent some other similar types of jungle deathworld), but they don't also represent Valallans (Who also live on a deathworld...).

Well, the Biel-Tan list is *also* supposed to be able to represent any Craftworld in a pinch, so there is some flexibility in the approach to the E:A's design philosophy...

And all the "special" units in the list *are* named "Catachan"... *laugh*
