Well, as per orders, here's a new thread to discuss my Catachan based "Deathworld Veterans" Army List.

It's my plan to include it in the, eventual, "Hive War" supplement detailing Tyranids and those who oppose them.

Looking this over, working on scenario design...

===

Valkyries - Air Cav seems too expensive.  Valkyries are in the neighborhood of 35-40 points in most of the IG lists, but 50 in this army.  Maybe that's intentional but it seems excessive.  Upgrade transports should be 40 points each, Air cav at 400 points (comes out to 40 per Valk) and 150 for 4 (like Storm Troopers) for the Veterans Platoon.

Sentinel - Is 5cm, AP5, IC enough fire?  It seems a shade light compared to the normal Sentinel, but maybe the +1 to CC is enough to offset it.

Mortars - I like the 1BP per 2 units, but for consideration... the Ork Hunters used a single shot with IDF, like the Thudd Gun stats.  Something like 2x 30cm AP5/AT6, IDF would seem about right.  They'd need to be more expensive than the normal fire support of 45cm AP5/AT6, but something like 125 points for the upgrade/250 for the formation would be pretty close.

Veterans - These guys are as good as or better than Storm Troopers.  Worse armor but better shot, plus Infiltrate.  They should be the same price.  200 points + 150 for Valks

Hellhounds - Do these need to have something like Walker added or are they okay?

Oops! Sorry, sir! - I'd just go ahead and make this 1 per 1000 points.

Air Cav rule - unnecessary.  Attached transport is attached transport.

Isn't a Heavy Flamer AP4+ in Epic?

The Catachan Devils are better in CC than Assault Marines?

Heh.  I missed the relative power level of the Devils.  They're also better than Striking Scorpions (same attacks + FS).

I'd say drop their CC value to 5+ and make it a formation of 8 for 250.  They'll still be quite elite from a per-unit view, especially for IG, but it gives them more of that IG big infantry formation feel.

Taken under advisement!

I had a load of comments but they all died. Twice. Over three days :( More when I get back from Biggleswade air show.

Love those Devils... striking scorpions with FS, scout and infiltrator. Ok armor is one lower.

Er... if you're looking at the Devils in my list, the firststrike attack is Small Arms for Booby Traps and is based on a FF5+.  They only get a single CC4+ attack.

The reason it's six units for 250, is that it makes it easier to work out point values if you break them up to add to other formations... similar, but more simple, than Sappers.
