Ok, while I accept the principle that a given formation may have different stats in different armies because of its relative 'usefullness', just how do you balance that objectively??
Furthermore, the Warhound also provides a further dilema through the Chaos varients - - - -
Anyhow, given its place in the "spacecraft" section of the lists, and the relative cheapness of the IG formations, I would suggest in this case that the +25 points is warranted for both IG and SM:- - SM because (to quote Hymirl's excellent summary), we want to discourage a Titan variant list with SM cheerleaders. - IG for similar reasons, and also because they have plenty of alternatives.

I'm sort of new to epic and all, just learning everything and getting familiar with the rules, but this seems a bit off IMO. It seems a very bad reason to increase cost just because there are plenty of alternatives and I think a simpler solution to the marine cheerleader option discussed would perhaps adjust them to say maybe only a quarter of the total army points could be used on Navy and Titan support. Would have the effect of limiting them to 3 warhounds in a 3k point game.

Interesting idea, but it would mean that marines couldn't take a Warlord at 3k, so is probably too retrictive.
The one time I've taken a Warlord with my marines at 3k it did awfully, but it's nice to have the option.

A completely off-the-wall suggestion sparked by Vaaish's suggestion might be a further restriction of 0-2 Titans within the spacecraft section, or perhaps amaximum 1 titan of any description per 1000 points

We could take the Titan Legion Battlegroups section in the ImperialGuard/Marine army list's which says 1 or 2 warhounds for 250 points each to literally mean that.1 battlegroup of either 1 or 2 warhounds and no more.

dptdexys : Again, non-scaling limits are bad. 1-2 warhounds max might be fine for a 3000 point game, but what about a 10000 point game?

Take 3 seperate armies 4k,3k and 3k and don't forget all limits in the tourney lists are per 5000 points.

Why on earth should you be forced to do that?
In that case, in a 3000 point game I'll take 2 1500 point armies and have 4 warhounds anyway...
The idea doesn't work.

If you are playing a 10k battle it would not be at a tourney .If you and your opponent s cannot come to an agreement to allow leeway on things like this then maybe you shouldn't be gaming together.
The Idea I put forward wasn't serious ,maybe I should have added a smillie.
