As my time becomes free-er I'm getting to look at more things. Currently I'm trying to get my notes from the last few years written up in some form for people to look at.

This dates back to the initial marine enthusiasm for varient lists following epics launch and hasn't been tested now for over a year. I've just altered a few things from the current marine list issues wise and wrote it neatly (and electronically).

I've have a gander at the marine armour list today some time, but my big problem with fiddling with new things is lack of time to playtest them and get a good feel for a lot of the stuff that doesn't strike me initially, devaluing my comments somewhat.

I like that much better.

The Termies are okay, but I think having them all-Flamer would be better stylistically and I don't think the difference really reduces their tactical flexibility substantially compared to flamer/assault cannon.

I'm okay with the total absence of Fast Attack options, as I think a chapter-specific army list should represent a "preferred" style of fighting rather than a comprehensive, everything-the-chapter-could-do list.  However, if you wanted to have a couple options, putting them with a restriction like BLs list and in the 1/3 points restriction like the Scouts would restrict them pretty severely.  Not necessary by any means.  I'm just throwing it out there to be considered.

If only we had a LR Crusader mini...

I think all-flamer is stylistically better for Terminators too.

And putting FastAttack detachmends to 0-1 AND in the 1/3 allowance ist better than not having them at all. I still have painted my assault marines for the Salamanders 2nd Company :D

I'm abit "hmmmm" about  the Scout restriction. Yes the ScoutCompany is small (6 Squads) but should they really restricted?

I wouldn't add 1-4 Dreadnoughts. Remember thatthe Salamanders where one of the three Legions wo where massacred on Istvaan. The RavenGuard still has problems to get a decent number of armored vehicle because of this. And a Novel about the IronHands talks about only 3 or so Dreadnoughts in the entire Chapter (but i think they counted the Venerable Dreadnoughts only).

And they should have two-strong Thunderbolt formations...not four. They too fought on Armageddon with 6 companies :)

But overall i like the list. :) I think i will make "colored up" version of it in the style of mine ;)

You are slightly wrong history wise - the salamnaders did get hit there but lost most of their strength in a different engagement vs traitor marines, I have the story around somewhere. They weren't the Iron hands losing all their gear there.
I'll try and find it if I get the chance.

They have bigger air support as everyone loves them and more importantly it cuts down their activations.

More air support because everyone loves them...lol :D I like it but by the same explanaition their "ally" allowance should be higher. So 1/2 of points for Titans and aircraft ;)
But as i see it: They fought on Armageddon (and for this campaign i delevoped the list initially) and so they should have the same restrictions on aircraft as everyone else.

But i'm interested about this particular story of yours. Because Index Astartes mentioned nothing about it IIRC.
