I’m quite interested in making a Primaris army - if for no other reason than it makes them distinct play style from my old marine army. I was expecting a fair few releases, but at the moment it seems to be 3 squad types, a big dreadnaught and a grav-tank, which hardly seems enough for a whole epic list...?

There’s 5 squad types – Reivers (scouts in power armour), Intercessors (Tacticals), Hellblasters (all carry 15cm range plasma guns, no bolters) and Agressors (cross between a Terminator and a Devestator). Primaris have the full usual range of SM characters too. I don't think they'd use any of the existing SM vehicles but I'm not certain.

They also have a large transport aircraft equivalent to Thunderhawk called an Overlord (though it looks quite different, more like a larger version of the Deathwatch Corvus Blackstar apparently). I expect there'll be a model from either GW or FW at some point. That plus the Dreadnought and floating transport / battle tank along with titans and air gives them enough to make a slightly limited but usable list IMO and the range will surely expand in time. Given it's range of weapon options then likke the Predator the Repulsor tank could probably have two profiles, one an AT version with the las weapons and the other an AP version with the gatling gun and heavy bolters.

I'll wait and see if anyone makes models for the Primaris personally, I expect it's only a matter of time.

Possibly Primaris disucssion should take place in a dedicated thread though rather than sidetracking here.

Ah yes, id forgotten about the tubby terminators. I’l have to borrow the club copy of the SM codex and have a read. Is the Overlord in that or is it a rumour at this stage?

Something for the Primaris from Forgeworld. Some sort of floaty superheavy tank.

I'd really consider making a separate list after they get further fleshed out. Until then stat up some units and give some reasonable cost/formations for them to get stuck in. I'd even throw them into the Kitchen Sink as well for yall as well because... why not?

Oh Christ that's the best snark you have done today. well done! :) They're not my cup of tea whiskey but someone somewhere is interested in them [gestures around] and frankly The Kitchen Sink is pretty much designed to be the dumping ground for such things, after all.

BTW check your Skype. sent you a link to something you need that we talked about this AM.

True, true. Not everybody can be blessed with my good taste (I kid, I kid, calm down).

Kitchen Sink slots are really a given if people come up with something reasonable. Hobby police aren't going to come and jackboot the door down if we don't use tournament approved lists, after all.

Still, gravtanktermitubbies? My nostalgia gland is bleeding. :(

Back when power armour barely saved against heavy bolters or shuriken cannon and most Eldar Guardians had sustained fire dice... I pine for the days of AV15 track locations and little clear-plastic template overlays.

I wonder whether that might be the new Overlord superheavy flyer? The photos aren't the best but I think it looks decent enough, FW as usual have taken an ugly GW aesthetic and improved it.

It certainly looks way better than the Repulsor, which is one of my all time least favourite GW designs - I think mainly due to the comically excessive number of guns and missile pods (7!) crammed on all sides on the turret with just the one gunner.

I suggested this in the other thread but the post didn't get copied across - IMO a good way to handle Primaris is to create a dedicated list for pure Primaris and in friendly games allow any SM list (all variants) to take Primaris formations out of the allied 1/3. That covers their rarity and adds a downside/limitation.

Hopefully someone will throw together a Primaris list at some point. If not I might do so eventually, but it's a very low priority for me. My hobby focus for the next year is tyranids and a titan legion, most of my gaming is at tournaments these days and I'd sooner playtest other lists.

The text on the page appears to describe it as a tank, rather than a flyer.

Hummmn, yeah...

Im willing to be convinced in the flesh, but right now the best i can say is agree with Glyn - it’s better than the repulsive.

It does genuinely look like GW are angling the Primaris to be their own thing entirely - when i first saw them i assumed that over time we would see a new mark rhino, predator, landraider etc. And over time just overwrite the “old” marine range. Instead they see to be going for a new higher tech marine look.

Perhaps kids brought up on Halo, marvel, etc (and a bunch of other stuff i’ve probably never seen) are turned off by the old WW1/2 look tanks. Or find it hard to get behind the best warriors in the galaxy looking/behaving like medieval knights.

I’m with DK that i miss the old grim dark regression of tech from the HH, but then it does look like over time they will genuinely offer a good reason for a NetEA list of their own.

I’m only bummed that i planned to use the vanguard novan range tanks. Any chance of hover versions MoreDakka? ;-)
