I'm going to be making a Space Wolf army and a Grey Knight army very soon and I have some general questions so thought I'd pop it in this bit of the forum. I've got lots of models that will easily exceed 3000 points in each case, heading to 5000, with the understanding that I'll be using that as a nice pool to draw different lists from. But I have a finite amount of some units, so I was wondering how best to spread them around. Right now I only have: 1 TH gunship 2 TH transporters 4 Hunter AA tanks So - do I let one list gobble all those up? How many of each do you use in a 3000 point list? Bear in mind I am a newbie playing other newbies so this is not "competitive" by any stretch of the imagination. For Grey Knights I have storm ravens and I can teleport a lot of stuff so I was wondering if I should let the wolves have the Thunderhawks. |

Blatantly unhelpful comment here I realise, but you know it going to happen sooner or later. Get more stuff!!! |

Ha ha, well, easier said than done when it comes to FW quality Thunderhawks that match my current ones. =-<< As for Hunters yeah I reckon I can trade for them. |

Just be clear, the list doesn't have to have dedicated models in your collection. For instance my minotaurs, which don't even have an active EA list, are able to be fielded under 4 separate lists (iron hands, codex, SoI, and Crusade). Actually I;m pretty sure that if I cared to bother, I'd be able to fix another few lists in there too. I plan on adding IF capabilities by adding a few thunderfire cannons and a formation of Achilles to the collection and in fact, those will be painted in Blood Angels colors! So in no way does color determine force, nor do you have to be uniformly colored (a mixed task force). Your collection can become fairly modular very quickly by simply additions. This means that in no way, for instance, would one list "consume" your rare hunters and tbricks; They can be used repeatedly. Perhaps instead you're wanting two armies in your collection, Space Puppies and Inquisitive Guys. Well that's something I'm sure we can help with but not really pertinent to lists as again you can reuse your space wolves tanks as the armored core while the GK fly on to smash shit up. ![]() With 5kish of troops you should be able to create any number of list compliant forces and likely several variations therein with the vast majority (80%ish) being common and still have models left over to trade! ![]() |

Heh yes I suppose that's the more logical way of looking at it! Perhaps I should keep the Tbricks as Space Wolves, giving a "lift" to GK would be a great alliance in my mind. |

TBH I think if you had 3 you would be unlikely to ever feel deeply frustrated when building a 3k list. |

0–3 razorbacks. You can easily proxy the thawk transporters as regular thawks to add flexibility to your list selection. |
