Draft for the Sanguinary Guard formation -

6 Stands of Sanguinary Guard
3+ Armor
3+ CC
5+ FF
30cm move
MW, EA+1
Frenzied, Fearless
Includes Supreme Commander
May take the following upgrades - dreadnought, heavy support, fast attack, Hunter, Stormraven

Special Rule: Honor of the Chapter - When this formation dies, the opponent immediately captures the BTS objective regardless of whether or not there is a higher value friendly Blood Angel formation still alive. Furthermore, all friendly Blood Angel units within line of sight to the destroyed formation take one blast marker.

450 points

I've given this a great deal of thought, and I like this a lot. This is the version that I would like to playtest for potential inclusion in the final approved list. Interested in hearing thoughts.

I especially like the Honor of the Chapter rules

I like the rule's name :) but I'm hesitant about the extra BM affecting other units in range part of the details - I kinda wonder if this should apply to a Chapter Master but I understand the theory and like the fluffiness, so let's see it in play. ;)

Seems pretty similar to the God Machines rules the AdMech and IH share. I think he's using it to keep the formation cost down a bit. Lets play it! :)

Is the MW EA+1 a CC attack or both?

& I assume that they have better/different armour to give them the 3+ save.

But from my point of view a good place to start.

That should be CC only, no? Representing the Glaive Encarmines they carry, correct?

To a man they've got Artificer Armour so makes sense.

Thanks for the positive feedback, guys.

Yes, they retain jump packs. I'll go in and edit the post.

The EA +1 MW is for CC only, yes.

Jimmy's right, the morale effect on units within line of sight is partly to keep the cost down. But, it's also to reflect how valuable this unit it to the chapter. The fluff about these guys really emphasizes that they are truly extraordinary space marines. Not just exemplary soldiers, but repositories of the chapter's history and rites, leaders of the great feasts, etc. These are literally living legends, soldiers so decorated and storied that their heroic deeds are woven into the mythos of the chapter. I want players to feel that when they use them. You can't just throw these guys into suicide missions; you've got to handle them with the reverence that they deserve.

Fits in with the fluff about the BA retiring from the entire Armageddon warzone when Tycho fell in battle. Talk about being BTS'd! ;D

What do you guys think of the addition of the Predator Infernus? Not saying I'm going to put it in, just curious to hear thoughts. If there is demand for it, might be worth discussing. So, essentially, a Predator with a short range uber melta weapon and heavy flamer sponsons. Fun addition? Or redundant?

AFAIK, that was a response from the mechanicum due to the BA holding back the designs for the Baal with the BBQ Turret

Quote:
Certain ancient data sources speculate that the Predator Infernus was an attempt to replicate the Baal Predator STC, stubbornly held by the honoured Blood Angels and their successors, and the same conjectural sources imply the superiority of this latter design in terms of speed, armour and armament. The Machine Cult of Mars’ gall at the Blood Angels’ refusal to release this precious relic is widely known, and so the Infernus boasts a fearsome armament in the form of a turret-mounted Flamestorm cannon, often replaced with the anti-armour potency of a Magna-melta, a devastating weapon originally intended for void-war boarding actions.

Seems that it would be odd to be here. Baal with Twin Dakka and BBQ turrets should be fine IMO ;D

Oh, sorry - the Infernus is a variant of the Baal in the Blood Angel codex. The Baal can either have the turret mounted Assault cannons or the Infernus cannon. Blood Angels have both variants available to them.

Not a huge deal to me either way.

EDIT: Sorry, I stand corrected - Blood Angels have access to the Flamestorm Cannon on the Baal, which is a mega flamethrower of the same power as the Redeemer flame cannon. So, that one. Yay or nay?

I'm surprised its not already an option. Do my people like salmon?

Baal Predator (Flamestorm)
AV 35cm 4+ 6+ 3+
Flamestorm Cannon 20cm AP3+ Ignore Cover
2x Heavy Flamer 15cm AP4+ Ignore Cover
Note: Has the Ignore Cover ability in FF

Just make the Baal Predator formation 4 Baal Predators (either type) at flat cost

Yeah, that sounds like the right profile for them. A very short range pure AP tank. Cool, fun, and thematic. I don't think they're worth the points, but, I can include them as a sort of fluff addition so people can use the models if they have them. Unless there are any major objections, I can add these.
