What do people think of them price-wise?

At the moment they get Teleport on top of basic scout stats for 75 points above the 150 points for Codex Scouts.

So the question is, are they overpriced?

I've not seen them used as yet. If you're looking for an external unit to balance cost against, Tau Stealth Suits are also scouts with teleport, and cost 225pts for a unit of 6.

4x Wolf Scouts ARM5+ CC4+ FF5+ scout inf teleport
30cm AP5 Heavy Bolter

6x Tau Stealth ARM 5+ CC6+ FF4+ scout, markerlights, reinforced, teleport, tjpacks, first strike
15cm AP4 Disrupt

Those stats make the stealths look like a better deal than the wolf scouts, although of course they are also only 2+ activations (usually collecting a BM on arrival for 3+) and in a Strategy 3 army. When it comes to actual utility, all I hear of Stealths is that they teleport in, get a BM, and get assaulted off the table :D

Having not played them, the only thing this comparison seems to indicate is that the Wolf Scout price probably shouldn't be any higher, and 200 to 225 is probably fair.

225 does seem expensive for what they are, I'd say try them at 200.

From my experience the Scouts bring a different flavour to the list as you can use them in a more forward role than the Codex Scouts.

What do people feel Teleport to be worth points-wise, generally? Obviously it's contextual in each army but a ball-park figure should be achievable. i.e.The Space Wolves Terminators don't have Teleport and they are priced at 325points (down 25 from Codex).

It's fitting with their background and 40k rules. Wolf Scouts are veteran hunters (not new recruits like other chapters) that attack enemy supply lines and appear out of nowhere amongst the enemy. In 40k they can move on from their opponent's table edge on the roll of a 3+.

It's worth mentioning that Wolf Scouts don't get transports of any kind, so they're slow once appeared and easier to break than normal SM Scouts.

What is their role?

As I understand it, vanilla scouts are mostly used as a screening formation, or a cheap rear guard. They can still do this, but at a premium.

Are they supposed to teleport in to take objectives last turn? Are they supposed to port in turn two to take on artillery or other (very) light formations? Are they intended to teleport in to divert fire from other formations?

How about CC 3+ and FF 4+?

They are vétérans after all.

Edit. I agree with E&C. That's why I would rather see them upgraded statwise, than pricewise.

As teleporting scouts I wouldn't look to reduce their price, that's a very powerful ability, considering what they could do to enemy artillery formations, enemy titans etc merely by teleporting nearby (not even attacking).

Yes, teleporting scouts are a pretty good combo!
