I'd like to change the names of the alternate Thunderhawks in the various Marine lists to be a little more descriptive using single words to follow the lead of the Thunderhawk Gunship
as Thunderhawk (Saturation Bombing) and Thunderhawk (Close Air Support) doesn't exactly roll off the tongue and looks silly on an army list - not to mention for formatting purposes. :D

So my proposal is to call them:

Thunderhawk Bomber - was (Saturation Bombing)
Thunderhawk Interdictor - was (Close Air support)

What are people's thoughts?

Those were Hena's babies were they not? If he's OK with it/ambivalent go for it. I'm sure it'll help you in the formatting department with shorter names too.

No real issues.

Interdictor sounds very ho-hum but happy to go with whatever

Hey, fire away with your own ideas, too. Interdictor is just a real-world term that describes what this TH does <shrug>

I do not have stats in front of me - what does Close Air Support mean? Are we talking about a FF monster?

No it has a Turbo Laser and 2x Rockets in addition to its heavy bolters - essentially heavy AP/AT oriented for busting ground formations and no transport option.

Interdiction/Close Air Support is designed to support ground forces when enemy are nearby. Like an air strike.

military meaning from dictionary.com: to destroy (an enemy's lines of communication) by firepower

Not really representing the harrasing factor. Back soon after I play around with a thesaurus ;)

Here are some suggestions from a quick play around.

Just add after the word "Thunderhawk":

- Agitator
- Marauder
- Raider
- Tormentor
- Provateur
- Perturber

Gotta get back to work now but I hope some of those help :)

Since Close Air Support has a widely accepted acronym, I suggest going with that:
"Thunderhawk CAS"

Actually, that's exactly what the Close Air Support TH is designed to do looking at its weapon load.... Although Thunderhawk Destroyer might work but then we start stepping into Marauder Bomber territory and I think we can avoid that.

Except they do not follow the naming pattern of the Thunderhawk Gunship i.e its role. They're all more "flavour nouns," rather than "role nouns" - which I intend to keep to.

And that's just a bit boring :D No offence meant to you personally captPiett. Without a description of CAS it doesn't really mean much to people not in the know. I really prefer not to use an acronym.

Any other names, if people don't like Interdictor? Using the above "guidelines," of course.
