Ok, so I have spent some time trying to convert my SM2/NetEpic Force over to E:A an dI would liek some feedback. First off I will paste my NetEpic List then what I came up with for E:A Code: Companies Points I Terminator Company 1000 1950 Special) Space Marine Commander 100 1) Assault Detachment 250 2) Tactical Detachment 250 3) Dreadnought Squad 100 4) Whirlwind Battery 150 5) Thunderhawk Gunship 100 II Battle Company 850 1950 Special) Librarian 50 1) Terminator Detachment 350 2) Hunter AA 150 3) Bike Squad 150 4) Land Speeder Squad 200 5) Predator Squad 200 III Battle Company 850 2025 Special) Chaplain 75 1) Tactical Detachment 250 2) Terminator Detachment 350 3) Bike Squad 150 4) Land Speeder Squad 200 5) Scatolo Support Squad 150 IV Battle Company 850 3225 Special) Chaplain 75 1) Terminator Detachment 350 2) Hunter AA 150 3) Whirlwind Battery 150 4) Vindicator Squad 150 5) Razorback Squad 400 V Battle Company 850 1650 Special) 1) Thunderhawk Gunship 100 2) Vindicator Squad 150 3) Land Speeder Squad 200 4) Bike Squad 150 5) Predator Squad 200 VI Tactical Company 750 1725 Special) Medic 50 1) Veteran Detachment 300 2) Veteran Detachment 300 3) Robot Squad 150 4) Rapier Battery 75 5) Thudd Gun Battery 100 VIII Assault Company 750 1125 Special) Drop Pods 1) Thudd Gun Battery 100 2) Mole Mortar Battery 100 3) Mole Mortar Battery 100 4) Rapier Battery 75 5) X Scout Company 450 1550 Special) Medic 50 1) Scout Detachment 150 2) Scout Detachment 150 3) Veteran Detachment 300 4) Veteran Detachment 300 5) Vindicator Squad 150 XI Land Raider Company 700 1650 Special) Techmarine 100 1) Land Raider Squad 250 2) Land Raider Squad 250 3) 4) Predator Squad 200 5) Whirlwind Battery 150 XII Warlord Titan Battle group 1500 4200 Weapon Allocation 900 Special) Reaver Titan 300 Weapon Allocation 150 1) Reaver Titan 300 Weapon Allocation 150 2) Warhound Scout Detachment 250 Weapon Allocation 200 3) Warhound Scout Detachment 250 Weapon Allocation 200 4) 5) 19950 E:A version Code: Companies I Veteran Company TERMINATOR DETACHMENT 325 2250 4 Terminators TERMINATOR DETACHMENT 425 4 Terminators +2x Dreadnought TERMINATOR DETACHMENT 425 4 Terminators +2x Dreadnought TACTICAL DETACHMENT 400 6 Tacticals +Supreme Commander ASSAULT DETACHMENT 175 4 Assault Units WHIRLWINDS 300 4 Whirlwinds THUNDERHAWK 200 II Battle Company TACTICAL DETACHMENT 425 2075 6 Tacticals +Captain +Hunter TERMINATOR DETACHMENT 325 4 Terminators ASSAULT DETACHMENT 175 4 Assault Units DEVASTATOR DETACHMENT 375 4 Devastators +Librarian +Hunter BIKE DETACHMENT 200 5x Bike Unit LAND SPEEDERS 200 5x Land Speeder PREDATORS 375 4x Annihilator +Hunter III Battle Company TACTICAL DETACHMENT 350 2050 6 Tacticals +Captain ASSAULT DETACHMENT 175 4 Assault Units DEVASTATOR DETACHMENT 250 4 Devastators TACTICAL DETACHMENT 450 6 Tacticals +Chaplain +2x Dreadnought TERMINATOR DETACHMENT 425 4 Terminators +2x Dreadnought BIKE DETACHMENT 200 5x Bike Unit LAND SPEEDERS 200 5x Land Speeder IV Battle Company TACTICAL DETACHMENT 425 4700 6 Tacticals +Captain +3x Razorback ASSAULT DETACHMENT 250 4 Assault Units +Vindicator DEVASTATOR DETACHMENT 325 4 Devastators +Hunter TERMINATOR DETACHMENT 375 4 Terminators +Chaplain WHIRLWINDS 375 4 Whirlwinds +Hunter VINDICATORS 375 4 Vindicators +Hunter V Battle Company TACTICAL DETACHMENT 350 1975 6 Tacticals +Captain ASSAULT DETACHMENT 175 4 Assault Units DEVASTATOR DETACHMENT 250 4 Devastators THUNDERHAWK 200 VINDICATORS 300 4 Vindicators LAND SPEEDERS 200 5x Land Speeder BIKE DETACHMENT 200 5x Bike Unit PREDATORS 300 4x Annihilator X Scout Company 600 SCOUT DETACHMENT 150 4 Scouts SCOUT DETACHMENT 150 4 Scouts SCOUT DETACHMENT 150 4 Scouts SCOUT DETACHMENT 150 4 Scouts XX Titan Battlegroup WARLORD CLASS TITAN 850 4000 WARLORD CLASS TITAN 850 REAVER CLASS TITAN 650 REAVER CLASS TITAN 650 WARHOUND TITAN 250 WARHOUND TITAN 250 WARHOUND TITAN 250 WARHOUND TITAN 250 15075 A couple of goals I kept in mind during this were 1) keep it easy to divide into 3/6/10k increments for different sized battles 2) keep it close to my NetEpic setup to avoid repainting or needing to purchase more minis 3) keep it within the "Codex Astares" chapter structure Suggestions, thoughts, criticism? How would this be best divided to optimize activations? |

Bikes and Land Speeders are piloted either by Reserve Company members, or by the company's assault marines. Also, last I checked, single Warhounds were worth 275 for Space Marines. Of course, I'm assuming you're making more of a TO&E than lists for games. I may be wrong. |

Quote: Battle Companies do not contain Terminators. They're simply not common enough. The terminators there are supposed to be a "support" unit to the company, they are just in the wrong order in that list. Not much else you said makes a lick of sense to me ![]() |

Ah. It looked more (to me) like you were setting out how your Chapter was organized. In which case the Terminators should be off doing their own thing, there should be a limited number of assault elements, etc. Since that's not what you're doing, all is well. |

Just remember that the majority of games are 2700pts or 3000pts games. 2000pts is the absolute minimum and 5000pts the absolute maximum for the Tournamen Scenario game. |

That seems awful small to me for average game size, I was used to 5000-7500 point SM2 games being typical, 3k points is barely any models on a 4x6 board! |

You need the room to maneuver. 5000pts of eg Orks is a pretty large and unwieldly army. |

Yup, army sizes under E:A are considerably smaller than SM/2. A 3k E:A game should be playable in less than 2 hours. Not sure if you could play a 7500pt SM/2 game in 2 hours! The 5k upper limit is guidance for balance. If you go beyond 5k you're advised to start a new force org chart. This doesn't affect some armies like Marines all that much, but for Guard for example it helps them out. |

Well, I guess it comes down to how much time do you have? But the idea is you can set up, play and strike in 3 hours. Indeed at a club night you either have time for a big game (4000+ points) or 2 smaller ones (2000/2700, maybe 3000). But at 3000 points you can easily face armies with 150 odd units. Marines though aren't one of those armies! The cheapest unit you get is 25 points (this is units as in stands or tanks, not formations). |

While I am not certain of this, I suspect Space Marines may have gotten more expensive proportionate to other armies. I'm not sure, mind you. It's just a suspicion considering the changes in design philosophy from Space Marine to E:A. |

Ok, so I asked this on the other thread, but I will ask it here too, how do I get from and army list to a formation? is each "Detachment a formation, or each detachment plus upgrades its formation? or is it something else? Also I read that to add say a chaplain, it REPLACES one of your stands instead of ADDING an additional stand, is that correct? |

The second one - a detachment plus its upgrades (if any) is a formation. Quote: Also I read that to add say a chaplain, it REPLACES one of your stands instead of ADDING an additional stand, is that correct? No. He gets added to one unit in the formation. |

No. He improves the statistics of one of your current stands by adding an invulnerable save, inspiring, and the extra MW attack. |
